Re: Non-billboarded sprites

... So you don't touch it. Why would you even need to? Don't touch the filename, don't touch the file, just add the ability to choose which physics engine you want in the menu.

Re: Non-billboarded sprites

Which is why you wouldn't touch it and have it as an alternate engine for compatibility. :o

Re: Non-billboarded sprites

Um, yes, with Doom's code. AI might not be feasible but I don't see what the huge fuss about an alternate physics engine might be. EDIT: Physics and collision, that is.

Re: Non-billboarded sprites

Would it be possible to move zDoom to modularity? Say, perhaps, choosing your physics, rendering, GUI, and AI engines? I could mock it up if you want.

Nothing paticularly technical about it - you throw it, you hope A_ThrowGrenade doesn't screw up and make it vanish into the nether or six miles above you (not too common an occurance, but it does happen. I hope to fix it!)

This greatly reminded me of a Something Awful game review quote which I ...

It's actually sort of fun trying to play through Doom 2 with freeze on. I can imagine how awesome it'd be to add things like Rockets just freezing in midair so you could stack them and jump on top. :v

Multiplayer stacking wars!
Rockets aren't solid - you can walk through them.

I still want a 1024x768 screenshot of Zen Dynamics fighting either the Hell's Battery or a mob with the dual SMGs. >_> I'm pretty sure that'd wow the hell out of him.

No. I just want to giggle at the unexpected side effects like I love doing with scripting.

http://tbsgame.net/main/html/2005/0327/314.html There's a page on the Fallout scripting language. I'm pretty familiar with it since I play unstable mods and have to handfix them.

Graf, do you want me to dig around for various scripting languages?

EDIT:

What would happen if the ballhead was on a flat surface and the player jumped on it, though? Or was dropped from a very high distance straight down onto it?
