Heh, sorry there Nash... that politics things was actually nothing to do with your post

. It was in response to when Nightmare Doom put the link up to Community Is Falling 3. I don't see the point in a lot of these flame wars. I've experienced situations amongst friends where people start to take sides and then splits form and things go crap. That's what I refer to with politics... there seems to be a lot of it in alternative sub cultures too...
@Nash: I understand what you are saying about having a partner or loved one do a musical collaboration. I'd do something like this on the side though. I like to do different projects to keep everything separate. It also gives you the opportunity to dabble in a different style... which is always fun

. My GF also doesn't want the huge fame or anything like that... she just likes to perform. This would be like a way for her to perform whilst at the same time giving me an opportunity to work with classical female vocals. She's a very good singer.
I also plan to keep this project as just an electronic 2 piece (me on keys/synths and her on vocals with a backing track for the drums and FX). I don't plan to do a band thing for this stuff... but I am intrigued to setup a band for more industrial metal orientated stuff... I'd be the vocalist for that though

.
What do you do for a living and how did you get it started? I remember talking to you about music stuff a while back. My studio is pretty sweet now

. I'm using an Intel Pro Mac running Logic 7. My sound card is an Maudio Firewire solo (I was also using that same sound card before I left the Zdoom community on my old PC). I've got a Soundcraft M4 mixer (It's just a simple analogue mixer. Nothing fancy... I like things like that

). For monitoring I'm using a pair of Mark 1 Mackie HR624's... they're really nice, especially for dance music

. I managed to get them cheap because the new Mark 2's were about to come in and these were on clearance. Apparently the Mark 2' aren't as good as the Mark 1's

.
At the heart of my studio however is a beastly Yamaha EX7 workstation synth

. This synth came out in 1998 and was the top Yamaha workstation of it's time. I've read in some places that this synth sounds better than the current Motif series! It sounds awesome! It has really deep bass sounds and some amazingly rich synth/string/pad/lead sounds. I love it, especially for Drum's. I've got it connected via an Maudio midi sport 1x1 (midi in to midi out and vice versa) and the audio outputs routed through my sound card via the mixer (I also have the option to route it through the mixer just for monitoring as my sound card only has 2 inputs).
I run my guitar via a Boss Metal Zone pedal into my sound card's DI input. I then use Logic's Guitar Amp Pro with a clean valve amp. I can get some really nice guitar tones with it. I find that using an external distortion pedal really adds that extra humph. I find that most guitar amp sim distortions can't get that nice chug I'm used to from real amps.
I'm very happy with my setup as I can do anything I want to with it (I can't record a band... but that's not an issue right now

).
Well, I've rambled on a bit there. I go now

.
