I'm prolly doing something very dumb, so please tolerate my lack of knowledge.

I've been wanting to try one of the dev builds, but I can't get my head around how to get it working. What I've done:
- downloaded the latest master build from the GitHub (https://github.com/marrub--/Lithium)
- extracted the downloaded folder
- navigated to the pk7 folder
- packed the contents (not the folder itself, the folder's contents) to a .zip with 7zip
- renamed the .zip to .pk7
- tried to run the .pk7 with GZDoom (4.7.1 and 4.8)

As far as I can see, when opened in Slade the .pk7 I generated looks correct when compared to the 1.7.0 beta that is publicly available. However GZDoom throws an error on start:

Code: Select all

Script error, "Lithium-master.pk7:animdefs.txt" line 12:
Bad syntax.
When I compare the animdefs.txt with the same file from 1.7.0 I see no difference on that line and position.

What am I doing wrong? Am I using the wrong .zip tool? Am I not including all necessary files? Please enlighten me :)

You need a devbuild. Ther's some recent features that use canvas textures.

The on-hit effects of the shock rifle seem to be broken with current builds, don't know if that's a known issue or not.

Hey, I have an issue, when I play, I can't, it's just stuck with the mod logo and "THE ULTIMATE DOOM" from GZDoom loading above it, it doesn't let me to anything, when I quit I get a GZDoom Fatal Error, not always, but I got one twice, does anyone have a fix for this problem? this mod looks incredible and fun.

Yes, I've read the entire description, I didn't see if I needed an older version anywhere, but if I do, I would be thankful if You would tell me which, most mods I've been interested on always seem to need older GZDoom versions.

Not sure, then. Hanging on load isn't something that usually happens with GZDoom at all. How much RAM do you have?

You wouldn't happen to have Precache GL Textures on would you

And also you aren't loading any other addons with it yeah

Enough for most pre-2018 games, I tried with other source ports and GZDoom versions too.

It'd probably be better if you could just tell us a number.

Nope, playing on Truecolor with precache disabled and only loading the pk3, also tried with the git hub zip.

For the sake of testing a theory, what happens if you try it with the hardware renderer?

It works, it runs like crap though, below 20 FPS, I don't know why but Hardware rendering absolutely kills my PC, I can't even run vanilla on it, but thanks, atleast I got to experience this mod, even if it was just a hyper-pixelated 640x300 E1M1.

Yo! Development update. 1.7.0 Beta 2 will be released some time after GZDoom 4.9, as it requires the Canvas API. It's otherwise pretty much ready, mostly just text and upgrades missing at this point.

Edit: Video is broken on some players, see next page for a youtube version!
