Essentially, any member who is not abiding by the simple codes of conduct on these forums (and, indeed, basic social interaction) should be restricted to posting only in Off-Topic until such time that they have proved that they can in fact act like a normal person and listen to the criticism of their peers. Perhaps also a message could be sent to these people, informing them of why this has occurred and what they need to do to rectify the situation, and to perhaps re-read the FAQ and "Welcome" thread.
The benefits are two-fold:
- 1. Reducing the amount of crap that occurs in decent threads (The latter end of the WRW being a good example).
2. Providing a warning to those who are completely and consistantly out of line, and preventing any cries of "OMG NAZI" when someone is banned, because they have been given fair warning. (I mean, hell, if you can't take a hint at that point, and you can't even contribute positively to Off-Topic then there is really no value in having you here).
