[FORUM] Suggestion: Losering

Post by Sir_Alien »

I think I may have mentioned this one time before, but I really believe a "losered" feature would be invaluable to these forums.

Essentially, any member who is not abiding by the simple codes of conduct on these forums (and, indeed, basic social interaction) should be restricted to posting only in Off-Topic until such time that they have proved that they can in fact act like a normal person and listen to the criticism of their peers. Perhaps also a message could be sent to these people, informing them of why this has occurred and what they need to do to rectify the situation, and to perhaps re-read the FAQ and "Welcome" thread.

The benefits are two-fold:
  • 1. Reducing the amount of crap that occurs in decent threads (The latter end of the WRW being a good example).

    2. Providing a warning to those who are completely and consistantly out of line, and preventing any cries of "OMG NAZI" when someone is banned, because they have been given fair warning. (I mean, hell, if you can't take a hint at that point, and you can't even contribute positively to Off-Topic then there is really no value in having you here).
Also, as somone else mentioned, this would provide in setting an example for other new members at the type of behaviour that is frowned upon around here.

Thoughts?

I believe this would help cut the crap quite a lot.
Bouncy Approved Suggestion. :)

I personally like the reputation system used at other boards (like the EVBoard that I sometimes visit) as long as it isn't abused. I'm assuming this would be something like that? Members can tag someone and if they're tagged enough, they get losered?

I was thinking more DW style: Mods loser people. This way it's less likely to be abused.

Add Lord Mattus and AlterWorldRuller to that.

Exactly my thoughts. Just like banning, if enough posts are reported, enough complaints made and enough pm's sent, someone will have their posting privileges restricted.

I'm in no way trying to backseat moderate anythng here, but do you think Bio and Q will handle it? Maybe Sir Alien could help them? I always tought he'd make a good moderation. A very persuading person.

I completely support this idea and wish for it to be implemented as soon as possible.
