PokeDoom - Beginner Project, help and advice required =]

Hello all, first off I am brand new to this forum so I do apologise if I have posted this in the wrong place.

I recently started playing with DoomBuilder, making some basic levels etc, in an attempt to learn more about games development. I decided it would be fun to set myself a goal and make a proper project, which led me to the idea of PokeDoom (basically just some pokemon textures and sprites for Doom Guy to shoot up). I have a basic understanding of a few coding languages having studied CompSci at Uni a few years back, but I don't know where to start with making any more than making a single doom level with Doom textures.

My main questions for now are:

1) I have made some textures for the inside of a pokecenter, how do i bring these into my level
2) how does one go about creating a menu screen and multiple levels strung together

any reference on this would be amazing

Go look at Youtube doom mapping guides. I love the idea here. I don't know if it's been done yet or not. The other thing you are gonna want to learn, if you are going the route I think you are, is about building a Hub map like how Hexen works. Many of the other things you might need to look at as well is Strife mechanics for dialogue and stuff. All of that can be found in Zdoom Wiki.

Think pokemon, but the permadeath feels real now that's it's extremely gory.

Well it makes ME think of doomguy throwing a pokeball and having an imp come out
