If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Imgur linking

Post by Enjay »

Anyone else noticing that
a) the imgur image upload has changed and that
b) it gives non working bb code links.

e.g. this image

Image

has this as its bb code link

Code: Select all

[img]https://imgur.com/T3x3RSN[/img]
(ignore the text in the fields in the pic, that was for a different image)

and that doesn't work.

I had to go to the share link location and then get the codes from the old interface to get the working link:

Code: Select all

[img]https://i.imgur.com/T3x3RSN.png[/img]
Using the share link with the Zdoom Forum imgur code does work though:

Code: Select all

[imgur]https://imgur.com/T3x3RSN[/imgur]

I recommend using ShareX to upload images directly from Explorer and get the image URL straight to your clipboard.

Was this today? I was just messing with that yesterday and it worked as it ought.

EDIT: Just tried uploading a thing now. I'm getting the old, correct interface for both old and new images.

It was today (yesterday) and it's still happening for me. The most obvious, immediate difference is how the drag/drop thingy looks when you move an image over the imgur page:

It used to just be a dark grey box with text on it.

I hate this new interface. I only use imgur in the classic, black-and-green style.

I hate constant interface changes. It means I have to update the [imgur] guide and I am not one of the ones faced with that fuckery.

For what it's worth, in the last 24 hours, there has been an update on imgur and the primary interface now (finally) gives correct BB code links. Up until then, I had to follow the share link to the image from the new interface, which then allowed access to the old interface with correct codes (or correct them manually myself).

So, on these forums, the first code (Share Link) is possibly the most useful and that's the one that you include between [imgur] tags (which you need to add yourself - either by typing them or using the imgur button). This is the one that should be used for larger images such as screenshots and whatever because the forum will resize it to a suitable, clickable thumbnail.

Code: Select all

The other useful code for here (and most other forums) is the third one (BBCode (Forums)).

This one can just be copied and pasted as it is (no need to add any tags, the correct Image
