Chaingun Sound Design - Which is better?

Post by Lambdaism »

Here is two of my videos that used varied sounds from other video games in chaingun(with Smoothhhy):
  • 1. General "Big gun" firing sound from Metal Slug(Since it was extracted from MS7, not even good as the arcade series's quality).

    2. Venom firing sound from RTCW
I can't actually decide which kind of sound would be more naturally suited for a chaingun, so I'd be appreciated if you share your opinion!

Definitely the Venom. It sounds a lot better.

I do not like the Metal Slug one; I can see it being extremely grating. The Venom, on the other hand, as awesome of a sound as it is, may be too powerful for its associated weapon unless the damage and feedback are upgraded to suit it.

Well, the Metal Slug one sounds like a sinkbomb, but I'll go with the Venom.
I'll get my hands on Smooth Doom and do a similar thing, the pistol sound.
