Hexen Remastered [WIP]

Post by pent »

Greetings ZDoom forum! I'm currently working on remastering, enhancing, and generally just updating Hexen all across the board. This includes: editing sprites, adding animations, updating effects, weapon tweaks and rebalances, monster tweaks, and well generally anything and everything that can be facelifted while staying as true to the original game art and mechanics as possible.

I started working on this mod back in July and while I'm no where remotely close to a point where I want to release the full version I am at a point where I'd like to start sharing the most important part, the sprite clean ups. This version contains a widescreen supported newly animated Spiked Gauntlet.
Spoiler:
My edits are on the left in case anyone wanted to see exactly what was done - everything contained within Hexen's palette. I'll continue to update this every time I complete a set of sprites.

Take a look at Hexercise's fists animation - slow in, fast "whoosh", slow out. Your fists are moving alittle slow and unnatural. Nice scapular sprite, by the way.

i pretty much based it around the original animation with respect to the number of frames and everything while trying to smooth out the clunkiness. and thank you it took a very long time

Very nice. I just wish there was more interest in making Hexen levels.

Hexercise's attacks are awesome, melee weapons actually collide with walls and enemies to produce different effects and animations, that should be the standard for Hexen modding.

it's a cool mod but everything is taking a back seat until the sprite work is done and i'm satisfied with having updated the original animations to be much more fluid.

working on the axe it's just taking a long time. the current sprites i've done are in the spriting carnival thread http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f= ... tart=22035

i'm thinking two more sprites should be enough. one between faxea0 and faxeb0 and one between faxed0 and faxee0
