.94 vs. .63a in a nutshell, please

Post by Deathmatcher »

I browsed this site but couldn't find short precise information about .94.
.63a is supposed to be the latest version, so what about .94? Are there any advantages or disadvantages (from developer's p.o.v. and gamer's p.o.v.)?
b.t.w.: I don't want to play Strife.

Gamer's P.O.V: .94 has less bugs than .63a
Developer's P.O.V: Stacked Sectors, GetLevelInfo ACS command, A_CustomBulletAttack for DECORATE and probabally more besides.

you forgot to mention that on coop mode you can actually share equipment and ammo between each other using the console command

drop "itemname"

due to the inventory rewrite

I prefer 63a. It works, doesn't it? I only use .94 if there's a WAD that needs friendly monsters. And I still prefer 63a's co-op handling over 94's because players get to keep their stuff when they die. It's a serious pain to have to lose all your stuff and have to find it all again.

I just tested .94 coop, I can't see any changes in the inventory system.
I wasn´t able to drop any items!
Also, I did not know that players keep stuff when they die in .63a. So .94 is sort of "back to the roots" or what?

What is this?
Bitching that 94 has more bugs than 63a? Randy focused on Strife support, couple bugs must've squeezed in trough thus he forgot to fix them.
Sheesh.

Maybe he would fix them if several people wouldn't cut their vines to get the new version of Zdoom tough  but again, maybe he finds this motivating.

Use 63 to suit Your needs. Post bugs on forum for Randy to fix them. Live and let other live. Peace _|..|

did you try putting

drop shotgun

in the console?

or

drop shells

it works for any weapons you have apart from the pistol (which on that note should maybe be considered?)

Yeah, the console command worked fine for the weapons.
But I cannot drop anything with the defined key from the controls menu.
So "bind" should do it.

actually, would anyone else other than me like the ability to drop the currently selected weapon? or the currently selected weapon ammo?

it would use something like

drop cweap

drop cweapa

or is there a command im not aware of that already does this?

Check the controls menu. I thought I saw a spot for that.

That's only to drop inventory items.
