Doom 64 Music WAD?
Sorry, it's my first post and it's one of these. Has someone made a Doom 64 music WAD like the Doom Metal WADS?

Re: Doom 64 Music WAD?
There's one for PSX Doom, which is the same music but ordered differently, located here. It's for Doom 1 only, though. It's funny, I had actually gone searching for this yesterday evening(or perhaps early this morning, I'm not sure) so the whereabouts of it was still fresh in my mind. Impeccable timing on your part there, because I probably would have forgotten if you'd given me enough time to do so.Inglorious wrote:Sorry, it's my first post and it's one of these. The Doom 64 tracks are actually different from the Playstation Doom tracks (though there are some that are merely modified slightly).

Eh, they're by the same guy and they're the same style. And, most importantly, they set the same tone, which is pretty much the entire point of a video game soundtrack.Gez wrote:The Doom 64 tracks are actually different from the Playstation Doom tracks (though there are some that are merely modified slightly).

You can get the Doom 64 music with Doom Absolution, as for a wad that can work straight with Doom 2 I know there is one somewhere...

If all else fails, you can get the mp3s from http://www.doom2.net/~doomdepot/music.html
Re: Doom 64 Music WAD?
Are you handy with slade? All you have to do is open your DOOM2.WAD, copy and past all the MUS files into a new WAD then Import the MP3's in place of those files.
Or you can just drag and drop your MP3's into the new WAD file and rename them to match the names in the DOOM2.WAD.
The only slightly "tricky" part of this is figuring out what track you want to use with what level, for intermission, the intro, ending, and so on.

You could alternately purchase them from the composer, Aubrey Hodges, who released a full remastered set of them recently: http://aubreyhodges.bandcamp.com/album/ ... soundtrack

For some reason, I found the Doom 64 music even more creepier than PSX Doom musictwinkieman93 wrote:Eh, they're by the same guy and they're the same style. And, most importantly, they set the same tone, which is pretty much the entire point of a video game soundtrack.

Could the lower quality of it be a factor? I admit, the high quality versions that Audrey's selling on Band Camp don't sound nearly as creepy.Gothic wrote:For some reason, I found the Doom 64 music even more creepier than PSX Doom musictwinkieman93 wrote:Eh, they're by the same guy and they're the same style. Slightly unrelated, but did anybody else find it goofy that the Quake and Quake II title screen music for the N64 was made out of game sounds?

The Doom64mus.wad file that comes with the Doom 64 Total Conversion actually works with GZDoom. All you have to do is install it the same way as the Doom Metal WAD. Create a Skins folder in your primary source port folder and copy the file there, and the engine will automatically run the music tracks when you start the game. Note that simply trying to run the WAD with the source port executable will not work.Inglorious wrote:Sorry, it's my first post and it's one of these. Edit: I tested this and it works with all Doom games except Doom 1 / Ultimate Doom. For that, you'll have to use the PSX Music WAD found here.

Using the skins folder to autoload stuff other than skins is not recommended.Frozenwolf150 wrote:Create a Skins folder in your primary source port folder and copy the file there...

Okay, didn't know that. I only have the one file in the Skins directory so it's not causing any conflicts. Regardless, I'll probably still use the autoload feature instead and see if it works.
