Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
AS many of you know, "No Rest For the Living" is an exclusive addon for the XBOX Live Arcade version of Doom 2. One of my most major issues with this wad is that fact that it is ONLY on Xbox 360 and has never seen a release on PS3, and more importantly, PC. This has placed this wad into the same category with the PS1 Doom stuff and has made it virtually untouchable by the community in terms of it's content (due to the agreement of its release between ID Software and Nerve Software). So what, it's going to be well over a decade before we consider this 9 level episode safe to play on our PC copies of Doom 2?
I was actually thinking of actually talking or petitioning with Nerve to release this PWAD to PC. Who would agree that this might be a good idea?

Petitions never work, but i'll put my name down anyways
Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
Yes I agree. I do not own a 360 and it would be lovely to play. I've read that it is a really tough 9 levels and I like my wads with quite a hard level of difficulty.
Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
Meh, the levels are OK. They were easy enough to get on PC a little while back and there was even a version with a ZDoom MAPINFO for them. TBH I'm not sure if I even have my copy any more.

I still think a petition would be a good idea as it shows that people on other platforms would like to play this. Though I'm entirely sure how to start a petition though.
Best case scenario it might show up on Doom 3 BFG Edition (but this is just wishful thinking. Master Levels would be nice too).
Enjay:
Was that wad named "NRFTL+.wad"? If that is the case, I could give you my copy if you really want it.

It's OK. I found my copy. Thanks anyway.

Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
Sounded to me like there are many much better megawads out there for free. Here would be a case of playing it just to say you did.

Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
Pretty much. It's a new content Doom release after so many years and that is both surprising and cool. There's nothing wrong with NRFTL - it's a competent level set - but there are many others out there that are just as good or better but just aren't "official".
Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
I have to agree, I've played them and they're fun, but nothing that you can't find online.

I think this is pointless. A NRFTL wad has been floating around Skulltag servers for ages. (Since one week after its official release, actually)

Its not the point that there might be something better online, the point is that its considered official and platform exclusives are bullshit

My point exactly, it's not about quality, it's about how this hasn't been released for PC officially yet, given how small it is compared to most other wads out there.Xtyfe wrote: point that there might be something better online, the point is that its considered official and platform exclusives are bullshit

Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
That and I'm getting tired of having to delete links to download the maps from ZDoom that people have uploaded under the rationale that it would never be released on PC and that id Software are supposedly sellouts or bastards or whatever for not porting it.Xtyfe wrote:Its not the point that there might be something better online, the point is that its considered official and platform exclusives are bullshit
Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
So, who would we petition? Would it be Id or Nerve? Or both, maybe?
Anyway, count me in. I think it's a real shame that the very platform that has kept this game (and franchise) alive has been left out of the last official release on new content...

Re: Petitioning for "No Rest For the Living"
Technically speaking, it's not exclusive. That NRFTL wad? Yeah, it's basically the exact same wad. Just, y'know, plucked out of the XBox and put on a PC.Its not the point that there might be something better online, the point is that its considered official and platform exclusives are bullshit
There's no real point to this petition, considering that it's aim is, uh, already kind of accounted for.
