Tour Of Duty IV: Modern Engagement

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

Tour Of Duty IV: Modern Engagement

Post by Deimus »

This is my first so called "project". My objective for this project is to create "modern" weapons in DooM graphics so others may use it if they wish. This mod will include various weapons used by the Brave men and women in our time. I attend to make sure this wont be a boring hit scan weapon and I will try to avoid from being a carbon copies of the inspirations sources.

Goals for the mod:
Spoiler:
Right now, I am working on 4 weapons at the same time (I don't want a forget an idea  ). but according to the rules, I must present something and right now the M16 is presentable . I'll whip up the center aim sprite base ASAP.
The main base is from The Great Wild Weasel weapons, other parts of other weapons from duke to blood.
Edited in MSpaint.

Things to fix:
-Straighten out and polish the hand guard. It's lopsided towards the front and back seems flat
- the bottom seems jagged and not connected
- The butt may need to redone.

Does this seem a better base??

I notice that my center was inconsistent with that one.

LOL one challenge to over come, BE CONSISTENT!
I try to avoid screens but...

That sprite looks far too blurry to be of any use, IMHO.

Don't know - could be a stylistic choice as well. We don't know how exactly the mod will look. The sprite doesn't look that bad either..

Well I'll admit I've never been a fan of the M-16 and other such AR15 variants, but that one just doesn't look very good at all. I'll make an exception for the Bushmaster ACR, though...

I still maintain that it's still one of the coolest looking rifles ever made. Then again, I'm a sucker for bullpup weapons.

What, the one with the A_FreezeAndFallApart calls in the firing state :P

Just look at this: http://www.angelfire.com/art/enchanter/SA80.html;
I knew the SA-80 was crap, but not being a soldier myself, had no idea just how crap :(

For some strange reason, I know a lot of people in the army (and I've even had the chance to fire an SA80 myself - good fun). Certainly, the older model was... well, it had its faults. However, all the squaddies that I have spoken to like the revised model.

I hate that I keep jumping idea to idea.

But thank you WW and enjay.

I'll keep those in mind, :)
I personally wish i could fire The Kriss .45 Calibre
I think I jump the gun to post the idea, but I'll will keep on throwing out sprite till the right now comes. (those two are hard to making an center aim sprite)

I'll post something later today.
Keep on posting your favorite weapon.

Given this is apparently taking after Call of Duty, I'd imagine he wants iron sights. =P

So that's what they call it, Iron sight .

Well thank you Wild Weasel, and for your reward he is a prototype of the bushmaster. I hope it meet some expectations.
I'm still tinkering with the hand, also I am editing the Iron sight for this one as we speak, but I'm done for today.

Doom could definitely use stronger SFX and an actual assault rifle. I'm tired of that corny chaingun and I want something realistic, like the shotguns.
