If you are wearing any armor, typing in "take armor (some number)" in the console takes away all of your entire protection.
If you can take away exact amounts of health and ammo, why can't you for armor?
Reason why it's necessary, is testing. I had to work around this with my last trial with ReX's last issue at the time.
