playing the old DOOm fashion way seems to be hard. (no jumps, no mouse, just purely keyb) anyway, can anyone here finish the wolfenstein level in doom2? (without cheating) it seems to be a little hard playing it the old ddom way. i wonder if gamers at those time are very adept in using the keyboard in FPS games
Sounds like the time I rebound my chasecam key to "quit", then spent a week trying to find out why ZDoom kept dying when I went to activate chasecam...Sticky wrote:Like most people here, I've made it through all of dos doom2 without cheating several times; however, these days, in a jam, my hand has been occasionally known to accidently slip onto the key I have bound to "summon megasphere"....
The best way to enjoy a level is playing it in Ultra Violence, since Nightmare would be just too frustrating (pissing mostly) to try on any map.
The other way is a cheating trip....but IDDQD + IDFA only, otherwise there's no way a map can be interesting at all. Cheating for the key set equals to anal sex with a shoe.

Heh, I think you're getting rather confused here. Doom has always supported the mouse (I think mouse support was probably in the first ever alpha). Heck, Wolfenstein 3D had mouse support, though I'm not so sure about Catacomb Abyss. Regardless, the mouse is hardly a new invention - you could even get a mouse for the ZX Spectrumadx wrote:playing the old DOOm fashion way seems to be hard. (no jumps, no mouse, just purely keyb)

What Doom doesn't support, except in ports, is mouselook, i.e. looking up/down.
