Holy crap! You think I'm going to read every one of an idiot's posts?! Think again...wildweasel wrote:any replies they make to existing posts must be approved by moderators before they will be visible to the rest of the users.
There already is one. You just can't see it.Bloodshedder wrote:Of course, probably the next thing I'll notice is someone suggesting a Post Hell forum.
About the whole loser system, A usergroup wouldn't work because you could unsubscribe from it.

Let's not take a simple and straightforward idea that would be very little work for the mods and turn it into something completely unworkable and unmanageable that no mod will want a part of...Lots of people wrote:Lots of stuff about improving the "losering" idea.
There's no need to add any new features to the forum and there's no need for user voting, flagging posts or approval / disapproval buttons. We've managed to report posts and pm the mods with our grievances for this long, why should a "losering" feature change any of that?
This would simply serve as a step to come before banning that the mods could take to warn people that their behaviour is unacceptable, and would work just like when someone is eligible for banning: if enough people complain, people can be losered, just like banning.
To reiterate, my concept of the losering system would work like this:
- If you're bad, your posting privilleges are restricted to off-topic and you are informed why.
- If your behaviour improves during this "losered" time, your posting privilleges may be restored.
- If your behaviour does not improve during this "losered" time, you may be banned.
I disagree. I think it would serve to weed out the people who are here to cause trouble from those who are here to learn and contribute. Once someone is losered, it's becomes evident very quickly as to whether they show any genuine signs of remorse and thus should be given another chance, or whether they aren't worth worrying about.QBasicer wrote:I oppose this. It doesn't cure anything.
Also, if someone who is losered really care about being here, they will do something about it. The majority of those who don't will either leave of their own accord or make themselves a very easy candidate for banning. Wouldn't that make your job a whole lot easier?
Plus, as I have said before, this "mid-step" between memberhood and banning, I believe, will make a difference in so far as keeping the main forum relatively free of garbage and protecting people's right to have a decent thread to ask questions and share ideas.
No offense, but the current system's not working.

Spoiler:Er, with that out of the way, I say implement it. Losering is for people who need to be reminded to keep it clean. I just hope nobody starts keeping track of those losered for whatever amount of time... I hate law watchers about as much as those who disrupt settings merely for their own enjoyment.
EDIT: names removed and rant spoilered.

K, misunderstanding, sorry.DoomRater wrote:The point of my rant was DON'T loser him. Perhaps I should have saved it for Drama Central...
I have to second this. I don't see how a system that allows things to get to the point of KoF or Hobbs before action is taken is effective.NecroMage wrote:You have your right to disagree with this for what ever reason you want, however, since you are a mod and its your job to clean up as much crap as you can, so what would suggest we do?QBasicer wrote:I oppose this. The ban warnings made no difference to people. Is my suggestion so outrageous that you're not even willing to try it to see if it works?
