Ehm... People, I need your help.
I'm trying to create an RPG using Zandronum engine. So here are my questions:

1. Is it illegal to use Witchaven weapons?
2. Is it illegal to create fully standalone (and possibly a little commercial) game, which runs on Zandronum?
3. If previous things are illegal, what is the best way to create first person weapons? I tried to draw them, but I spend a load of time on a completely shitty final result.

Witchaven's weapons were likely created with a camera and a green-screen, and a lot of tweaking work.

It takes a LOT of time and practice to make a good weapon from scratch. For now, just edit the works of other modders or DOOM engine games. Again, I am not a lawyer, so I don't know about the legality of that, either.

Wasn't Action Doom 2 sold commercially? Or was that the original?

Sort-of. You could (and can) download it for free, but there was a CD release as well (according to the doom wiki, anyway).

All the graphics I believe were done that way for that game. All the enemies were clay models.

1. Not really, people do it all the time. If you're using it for something "commercial" it will be illegal but you will not be sued because the company no longer exist (however it is strongly advised you NOT do so).
2. It is not illegal, but this does of course mean a new IWAD, it can't run with Zandronum and be sold unless you are given permission. Why would you even want to sell it? Honestly, you'd probably make less than $100, even if it was top of the line stuff, you're not going to make a lot of money from an outdated engine. (Doom 3 BFG Edition is only $30 compared to new games with top of the line everything, which usually cost $60 for example) and why would you make people pay for it? Get a job and make games with modern engines if you really need money from video games. Not to mention, do you even know how the business works? You are not going to be able to just go to Gamestop and say, "I made a game".
3. You can use a green screen (or just a really white room). Then you take pictures in FP view. It takes a lot of work, just as drawing from scratch does. If you don't like doing it, and you think it's to tough, that's fine. Many people on these forums would help you make all the weapon graphics.. if you paid them enough.

I'm not sure if this is what you might be looking for, but here you go. It's what I'm using for my mod right now. It's an edited version of the sniper rifle that was used in Wildweasel's Diaz mod. It's originally from Redneck Deer Hunting iirc. You'll probably need to do a bit of editing with it. But here you go. It has no hands just in case you wanted to add your own hands to them.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to have a go at creating some STARxx (i.e. STARBR1, STARTAN1, etc) style designs using the following base textures. I've tried myself but none of them looked too convincing.
