Yeah I haven't really played Evilution that much and I can still tell those are pretty much just the same thing with different graphics.... So what the hell is taking 13MB?Xaser wrote:Wow. This thing is just TNT-Evilution with different graphics, sounds, and a retardd EXE. Plus, it's free. OMG WAREZ ALERT.
Anyway, this wad is kind of... sucks.
That's completely different.geedougg wrote:The same kind'a people who wanted us to buy Hac-X, perhaps?
HacX was a conversion built from scratch using an original idea. They went through the proper process and they own their creative work. Asking for money for that is perfectly legitimate.
A conversion from ripped graphics and ideas is not the intellectual property of the distributor. Unless the creators have licensed this, the work is not legal to sell or even distribute. Asking for money for this is just plain lame.

Well Hac-X still used the DooM engine. Shouldn't the makers of Hac-X have licensed the engine first in order to sell a game that used the DooM engine?Risen wrote:HacX was a conversion built from scratch using an original idea. I don't know, as far as I can see (from the screenshots anyway), the Simpsons graphics aren't ripped from anywhere; they look as though they were drawn by the people who made this Simpsons Doom WAD.... But if it's directly taken without permission or licensing, then it wouldn't only be lame, it would also be illegal too. I'm not sure if that's what they've done here though....Risen wrote:A conversion from ripped graphics and ideas is not the intellectual property of the distributor. It was my understanding that they did.geedougg wrote:Well Hac-X still used the DooM engine. Shouldn't the makers of Hac-X have licensed the engine first in order to sell a game that used the DooM engine?
It doesn't matter. They're still ripping intellectual property.geedougg wrote:...as far as I can see (from the screenshots anyway), the Simpsons graphics aren't ripped from anywhere...
My point exactly.geedougg wrote:But if it's directly taken without permission or licensing, then it wouldn't only be lame, it would also be illegal too.

Umm, you know licensing an engine ain't cheap. Somehow I'm not too sure the people who made Hac-X could've actually afforded to do so....Risen wrote:It was my understanding that they did.geedougg wrote:Well Hac-X still used the DooM engine.
