Yeah, I noticed that there was two Simpsons Dooms. One has like so much blood it's unreal and there's the one that someone made for Zdoom which I have which is better.

This is just a shareware version? Where do I get the full version for this one?

Nah, that's a remark of laziness. He probably never made the full version, and anyways if he was to have you pay for it, then it's illegal making profit off another production's franchise.

That's what I thought. But then I just assumed that maybe he was actually hardcore enough to license the engine for making a crappy-looking mod..... Well I DLed the "ShareWare" version and it was like over 13MB or so, which is craziness.

Yeah I haven't really played Evilution that much and I can still tell those are pretty much just the same thing with different graphics.... So what the hell is taking 13MB?

That's completely different.
HacX was a conversion built from scratch using an original idea. They went through the proper process and they own their creative work. Asking for money for that is perfectly legitimate.

A conversion from ripped graphics and ideas is not the intellectual property of the distributor. Unless the creators have licensed this, the work is not legal to sell or even distribute. Asking for money for this is just plain lame.

Well Hac-X still used the DooM engine. Shouldn't the makers of Hac-X have licensed the engine first in order to sell a game that used the DooM engine?

I don't know, as far as I can see (from the screenshots anyway), the Simpsons graphics aren't ripped from anywhere; they look as though they were drawn by the people who made this Simpsons Doom WAD.... But if it's directly taken without permission or licensing, then it wouldn't only be lame, it would also be illegal too. I'm not sure if that's what they've done here though....

It was my understanding that they did.

It doesn't matter. They're still ripping intellectual property.

My point exactly.

Umm, you know licensing an engine ain't cheap. Somehow I'm not too sure the people who made Hac-X could've actually afforded to do so....
