Digital Homicide the worst developers -feat.Jim sterling

Post by Freaklore1 »

So have you guys seen this ?

There's this duo of developers known as Digital Homicide who have been releasing games on Steam and other sites, the quality of those games are quite poorly, they are pretty much almost unplayable, assets are stolen and used multiples times and lots of glitches.

But the story doesnt end there,Jim Sterling a well known reviewer has been playing their games and it seem that those developers dont like taking criticisism.

Edit:Oh and forgot to add that these guys have created multiples identities to release their games.

Here are the videos about this whole story if you want to know more.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6s0Wpn1zmU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbqxPgK87dM

And guess what, things didnt end there, those developers have even decided to sue Jim Sterling and other peoples for like millions of dollars, they even say they have a lawyer and have filled a court notice.

And what's more, recently they also sued Steam users also for millions of dollars and Steam had to ban them.

Wow,just wow...i guess Digital Homicide can receive the prize of worst developers in the world.

Correction: The Romine Brothers (heads of Digital Homicide) have filed a subpoena in the state of Arizona in an attempt to obtain the personal information of a hundred Steam users in preparation for a $18.7 million personal injury claim. The judge has yet to grant the subpoena, thus no Steam users are being sued.

Anyways, the Romines now claim to be bringing a lawsuit against Valve.

And we all know that will turn out very well for them

This is old news and has been happening for a couple of years now. The stuff that happened involving them is amusing, for sure.

Number of disgruntled DH employees 0. That makes them better than any perpetual crunchtime developer in my book. The Sterling thing sucks but its hard for me to give any fucks about YT celebrities. As lame as Unity asset games are they aren't illegal.

I mentioned these guys only SLIGHTLY before in another thread, Ladies and gentlemen - A company surprisingly worse than Konami, EA and even Gearbox.

They're nothing comparable. One is a studio that makes no games and is built entirely on infamy and suing people for petty reasons. All the others are AAA publishers with a history of mismanagement, and EA has improved quite a bit those last few years.

The thing is that it's not really about Jim Sterling,it's about how the Romine brothers reacted to the criticisism very negatively and act very non-maturely.

Their games while not illegal have very poor quality, barely playable and some of the assets are stolen from different places without those contents creators permissions.

Then there's the fact that they are trying to get millions of dollars from peoples by going to court even tough their games are not even worth that amount.

It's like a child holding a 1$ ice cream being told by an adult that that ice cream doesnt really taste good, then the child go on a temper tantrum and let his ice cream fell instead of keep holding it and improving it,then ask that man to give him 1 million$

Therefore, illegal. They stole intellectual property and are reselling it without owning any sort of commercial licensing rights.

to be more precise, the use of assets from the unity asset store is legal. its still kinda shitty the way they do it, but its legal. What's not legal is things like them using Google's image search to find blood splatters and other similar graphics. Now maybe they lucked out and found them on a site that allows this sort of use, but I do remember people digging through their assets and proving this is not the case in pretty much all cases.

Some of the promo art was ripped straight from deviantArt without permission IIRC, so yeah, illegal.

As Freaklore said, this is bigger than Jim Sterling (which is an achievement in itself :P). It would set a dangerous precedent if the subpoena were to be granted. And given the Rommies' track record on handling personal information (they actually tried to dox Sterling on air during an interview) you can pretty much bet your arse that those Steam users affected would be getting more than a summons through ther letterboxes.

It's unlikely to be granted, but then again, common sense is practically a fucking superpower these days.

DH does not deserve to exist, hell if i had the money i would help people who had their assets used illegally go through the legal theater of suing under the DMCA. Theft of someones hard work that they put up for free, to go right around and sell it as yours is utterly deplorable and deserves punishment of of huge fines
