Texture pack for a city map?
Texture pack for a city map?
I'm working on recreating a small city with no actual buildings interior, but simply exterior look, so I'm looking for some textures of shops, skyscrapers, stadiums, subways, elevated railroads, restaurants... . Do you know a mod I could use?

Duke3D and Counter Strike 1.0 could be your best chances.
Oh and probably the sixth Test Drive game, and also Remedy's first Max Payne for the subway textures.
Elevated railroads? Heck, I saw this in a Half-Life mod. Elevated railroads MUST use the textures from the city map.

Probably a texture from a Doom 2 megawad, Revolution.

Have a look through Dawn of Reality by Reinchard

I believe I have the stuff you're lookin' for. City textures, railroad pieces, a set of asphalt road pieces, manholes, sewer grates, billboards and adverts, traffic signs and pretty much everything else I can think of. Here are the samples.

And...where are these from?
Re: Texture pack for a city map?
That "Tobacco & Drink" sign is in Unreal font.

Re: Texture pack for a city map?
Some of them are from You Are Empty, especially the building textures and some concrete. Railroad pieces are from Mortyr 2, most of the advertisements, shop window displays and signs are taken photos from Norway and Budapest. The rest of them are from the movie The Mist, and will be of course used on the level Lost in da Mist.

Alright, good. Remember, Reactor, it'd probably be a good idea to cite those sources when you post the images, without needing to be asked all the time.
Credit. It's a good thing.

As I promised, once the player finishes the game (regardless, which campaign), the entire cast and credits list shall be available after the ending, just like I did in the previous game. Along with a "Special thanks" list of course.

Re: Texture pack for a city map?
Yeah, but when you're posting resources for other folks to use, are they going to get credit lists as well?
Re: Texture pack for a city map?
Oh ye, sure
I meant, when I'll actually use these resources for my project.
As for the uploaded resources, I don't credit samples, but if the original poster requires the package to be sent, I include the credits either in the PM or in a textfile.

I'm not certain that Cicerone is still interested in this thread, but, maybe somebody else might want to use these.
When Sphagne left the ZDoom forum he uploaded all his resources for Elidor to the idgames archive, which has a
few really nice building textures.

Here go some handy textures, all from Sniper. Resolution is 256x256. John Wow is a gag to John Woo, a film director. A.W. Corwin refers to one of the level designers.
