Somebody watch Princess Mononoke, Ghost in the Shell, and Spirited Away. Then tell me that anime is cheap.

I don't know about the first 2 but Spirited Away was actually very nice! I watched that with my ex and we enjoyed it a lot, we were both very impressed.

That being said though, there is still a lot of anime out there that is not very good at all.

A bunch of mindless, preachy bullshit

There's a difference between being close-minded and being able to accept what you don't like. For example, I don't like mayonnaise. That doesn't mean it's inherently bad (unlike, say, anime), but as far as I'm concerned I might as well be eating puke. The same goes for anything mayonnaise-based. Now, I could continually try different foods with a decent mayonnaise content, and continually be grossed out and half to throw up, but I've firmly realised by this point in my life that I'm simply never going to find something that tastes good to me that has mayonnaise, and that's just a fact of my life.

The same goes for anime. I've seen enough of the crap to realise that it's not for me. I've seen better plot progression (not to mention animation) in a flip-book I got out of a box of Rice Crispies. Let me tell you what all anime cartoons have in common:

1) 4 frames of animation (more or less -- usually less) per second.
2) Badly lip-sync'd English that usually turns out awkward and rushed.
3) WAY too many non-verbal grunts, whines, moans, and other abstract noises, particularly with the female characters. I can't help but get embarrassed when I watch 5 minutes of anime, because anybody who can't see the screen probably thinks I'm watching porn.
4) Overacting and overdramatic situations, that usually go on for far too long. (Oh no, look, he's falling! Oh no he's still falling! Quick! Show every single character's face for 10 seconds and have them emit a random sound to show how concerned they are! Also, use two frames of animation, and have the only difference between them be a slight glittering of the eyes, because that's all we can afford to budget!)
5) Personal situations that are completely awkward and unrealistic, some of which may be a poor translation from the Japanese culture.
6) Constant and unabated reuse of frames! If I have to watch the same frame go back and forth any longer, my mind will voluntarily self-destruct, leaving me a rotting vegetable with drool leaking out the side of my mouth. On the bright side, no longer having the mental capacity to comprehend what I'm seeing would be bliss.
7) Slowest... Moving... Plots... EVER!! Why does it take 4 episodes to explain what happened in a single hour? Jesus Christ, people, MOVE THE FUCKING PLOT ALONG!
8) Characters virtually indistinguishable from one another. The main character is a boy that looks like a girl and has purple, green, or gold hair, usually arranged in a style that no fashion-conscious person would ever be caught dead in public with. He's also usually accompanied by a sword or other weapon that's twice as large as he is, because being unable to unsheath your sword is apparently a requirement for heroes in anime. The supporting actress(es) are all more or less identical, with overly exaggerated eyes, short skirts, neon hair (again), and a complete lack of any depth whatsoever. They are there so that people can jack off to their 5-second "ohmygodimtransformingintosomethingreallycool" almost-but-not-really-nude cutscenes that must adorn every episode. Also, they like to say "uh!" or "ah!" or "ngyuh!" way too damn much. See #3 for more information.

In summary: Anime stupid.

Let me tell you what all anime cartoons have in common:

You can succesfully produce a bigger list for pretty much anything in the world.

OK... and? Oh, you mean to tell me that it's bad? Well Doom3 has about as much light in the whole game as a deserted coal mine - I guess that game is stupid, it sucks, and it was a total waste of money for the creators and consumers.

Yes, it's horrid. Standard television shows (and most animated films) have 24 frames per second, which are blurred together so as not to appear choppy. Movies have 30 frames per second. Digital sources such as DVD can display up to 60 frames per second. 4 frames per second is a slide show. Anybody with a brain knows this. What's really sad is that this is the strongest point in your entire post.

Secondly, it's not possible to engage in an adult debate with someone who doesn't act like an adult when a debate arises; using words like "shall" or "merit" doesn't help in boosting adulthood either.
