I know the Doom franchise isn't exactly well known for its in-depth story telling but at least with the little snippets given to us we can make out more or less where each installment takes place. The Ultimate Doom takes place across Phobos, Deimos, and Hell. Doom 2 takes place on Earth and a gradual descent to Hell. Even Plutonia has it taking place on Earth and the player slowly progressing into the "devil-hive" as shown by the change in skybox in levels 21 - 30.
TNT:Evilution seems to be the odd duck out in the regard because even though the game takes place on one of Jupiter's moons, Io, and for the first two-thirds of the game that's made pretty clear, the last third has more hellish levels that look nothing like the demonic spaceship described in the story. They look more like Hell on Io.
Has anyone else noticed this? I'll admit it would be kind of nice if there was a level set that actually explored this spaceship in-depth, but I just like more Doom content in general. :v

I wouldn't be surprised if TeamTNT didn't even have a story for Evilution until the commercial release.
That would mean it was slapped on top of it after all the levels were done.

Yeah, I know that Doom 1's skyboxes don't look like what Phobos and Deimos actually look like, but that's nothing in comparison with that nice snowy volcano-less, sulfur-less skybox of Io that in reality looks like a giant quatro formaggi pizza. You can't even see Jupiter in the night sky, which would take up the whole screen at the right angle.

I think TNT kind of falls apart in level design as you get around towards the end, so it doesn't really surprise me if maybe they kind of forgot the general theme as well. I mean, look at the last level, after the slightly clever yet still annoying platform maze your met with drab box rooms that don't pose much challenge. the IoS room is a bit better but I think you can blast through that one quicker then the doom 2 IoS if I remember correctly.
TNT's weird for me, I absolutely love some levels yet some others are beyond boring. Doom 2 is kind of the same way but the quality discrepancy of good levels to bad levels in TNT is much bigger.

Eh, TNT Eviloution is like one of those trippy psychedelic dreams you have. Where in the dream, one moment you're in a forest. Surrounded by trees, plants, that sort of thing, and a few moments later, it magically changes to a an ocean beach. Sand below your suddenly barefoot feet. The wind blowing in your hair, waves crashes. Then it goes to *fart noise* and then you're in hell. That's how I felt with the game's map progression.
Speaking of which, if this is a demonic space ship we're dealing with. On map 27: Mount pain. Where the heck is that located at on the spaceship anyways? Is it like one of those anime sci-fi space colonies, where they have entire cities built within them? This is especially baffling if you look up at the sky, and its demon red ad everything. Then again, if the demons could subvert the technology of the starport in doom 2 and bring their own reality with them, then creating transnational space ships shaped like a spoon (that is what's on the title screen right?) with hell based terraforming, atmospheric conditions, and overall vibe.
I'm think I'm getting carried away here. But that's my 10 cents on what I think of at.

it is NEVER stated that you even go ONTO the spaceship in the in-game text screens or anywhere else I believe.
I've always assumed you are still on the same moon but the reality is getting warped by the alien presence. who to say the ship didn't fuck off a bit earlier on while you were in one of the tech-labs in the first 11 maps?
