Re: [Release] The Trailblazer (1.2c)

So I've been running into this rendering bug every so often. I'm not entirely sure what's causing it, but it seems that every so often, when I start using the Skullthrottle, my view of EVERYTHING completely breaks, but does not crash the game. I can still move, pause the game and hear sounds, but I literally cannot see anything. In fact, even when pausing the screen looks the same, but I can hear myself shifting from one menu to the next.

This has happened on almost every map I've played too, btw. Though I think its when I move my mouse around and start firing the skullthrottle, though, I can never seem to replicate it when I WANT it to happen. It's weird.

This is from awhile ago, and yes, I had been keeping up to date with the DRD gzdoom dev builds. Not really sure why this is happening really, as I'm not sure if its a problem with the mod or if its an engine issue. It's not a massive issue, it just means I need to save often.
Spoiler:
Edit: Oh, and yeah it did happen again, though I haven't updated the dev build. Just an FYI. Gonna go get the newest and see if it happens, but I wanted to post this here first before I forgot.

Congratulations! Your graphics card may be literally frying itself for dinner! Though, I did have this problem maybe a month ago while testing Guncaster.
Spoiler:
It only happened the one time. It may be worth checking into your computer's internal temperature.

Nah, its not that, it doesn't happen with any other mod or game. Only when I use TB's Skullthrottle does it ever occur. And yes, I am checking the temp, CPU only reaches about 54C. Still pretty safe. And the GPU is at 42C. Also pretty safe.

Maybe it has something to do with the quaking effects?

I've actually had something very similar happen when switching resolutions with a GSync monitor. Temps were fine, and restarting the game cleared any visual glitches. Now that I think about it, I was running TB at the time, and I haven't seen anything like it since, so it's probably not the monitor. Very odd indeed.

That said, since I love TB so much I just had to make something not really new and exciting for it. It's a really quick and dirty pistol edit I did while I worked on other, more pressing things. You'll get errors loading it up, but it works. Plus I think the protagonist isn't an olive drab kind of guy anyway.

Just load this pucker on top of TB like a dirty toupée.

I almost fell out of my seat laughing. :D

I'm looking more forward to Guncaster than Trailblazer, but I get the idea. XD

OOH! A machine pistol! Gotta try dat! :D

EDIT (4/4/15): Just tried it. Three problems with it...

1. You cannot quick-launch macheterangs. Not a problem for previous updates, but definitely one for those who have begun to utilize the new technique in the more recent updates.
2. You don't start with a full pistol magazine of 21 bullets. You start with 16 in your pistol, so you'll probably want to reload it before shooting everything that moves. It would be nice if one starts off with the full 21 bullet magazine.
3. Your pistol magically disappears whenever you execute a punch. It reappears right after you're done with your punch. An aesthetic problem, but it would be nice if this were fixed.

Also, you have to load the mod after the Trailblazer main mod, in order for it to work. Whichever mods come later in the load order get priority over other actors, so in order for this to properly replace the pistol, it has to be loaded after the core Trailblazer mod.

Other than that, everything else runs smoothly. If all of these were fixed, this add-on would be perfect! It definitely makes the pistol a little more usable now, doesn't it?

I've found that the sidekick pistol also does not have a Blazing speed effect when aiming down the sights. (The natural blaze via low health still works though.)

I thought that all of the mod's weapons being steel-gray is giving a boring visual output after a moment, that's why I thought it wouldn't hurt to keep it like that. And hey, as Zhs2 pointed out - it strangely reminds of Demon Eclipse's earlier pistol, so I thought it's an alright resemblance. Well, burst fire pistol you say... I'll consider that, as it seems to be a more sensible alternative than me thinking about gyrojet bullets. :P

Whoops, thought I'd forget to add that somewhere. Fixed!

I'd really like it if you'd remove that crazy speed enhancement when you health gets critically low. It gets very hard to move anywhere. You could however keep the sped up firing though. Same thing goes for that power up.

But that's just me!

It'd be cool if that were a CVAR...

Hold walk. Walk speed is not augmented by the low-health speed boost, I assume specifically for this reason.

Yep, I added that feature for a reason. Cheers to someone for discovering the purpose of the run button - or cl_run toggle, if that's what you prefer!

feature request and a possible bug

Post by Pardo »

Hello, can you please release an addon for this mod that removes the pushback from when you fire some weapons?
More than once on different wads I find myself fighting cyberdemons or spider masterminds at knife range or standing on platforms and every shot knocks me back a mile away into lava/toxic stuff and I have to run the entire map again to return into position to continue the fight.
And this happens at every "Nutcracker" shot I fire it really drives me insane and seriously limits the viability and fun of that weapon.

Also I noticed another thing: after picking up the berserker the hud icon with the berserker face stays there forever on screen even after the effect has expired.
This does not happen with the blaze sphere so I assume its a bug.
