Hypothetically paying for ZDoom features
Hypothetically paying for ZDoom features
So, say I or someone else wanted to have ZDoom have a possible and feasible feature, but nobody particularly is up for coding it, mostly because it would be time consuming. I don't have any of the skills required to code it either, nor do I know anybody who would. Would ZDoom coding staff accept payment to add features they deemed acceptable to add? Not by me right now because I don't have money to splurge quite at this moment, and probably not for some time. Obviously there would be discussion as to how much the feature would be worth. If the feature was big enough and multiple people wanted it, maybe fund it using Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, etc.

Anything resembling being other than non-profit might have some bad repercussions, particularly from Randy's webhost. (IIRC he used to have a donate link on the front page, but he took it down for that reason.)
I think it would also lead to an unhealthy development environment. Anyone's support should matter equally, nobody should feel like they have to pay to have a voice.
If someone wants to donate to the project, that's great and they can work that out. But it shouldn't be necessary to "bribe" anyone, that's bad for open development.

This is silly. It basically amounts to "my best suggestion of all time was rejected! Maybe if I pay them money..."
Or as NerualStunner put it, bribery.

Now that you put it that way, yeah, that does sound dumb and open to misuse.
While this topic is still relevant is there any way to donate still?

If you buy Super 3D Noah's Ark on itch.io, all but a small percentage of the default price will go to Blzut3. Technically, that money is put towards ECWolf development, but since Blzut works on both that and Zdoom, and since the two projects are closely related technologically, it's the closest thing to donating for now.Death Egg wrote:While this topic is still relevant is there any way to donate still?

No, there was never a donate button. And I could literally turn this into a porn site, and my host wouldn't care unless I went over my bandwidth limit (which is much higher these days than it used to be).NeuralStunner wrote:Anything resembling being other than non-profit might have some bad repercussions, particularly from Randy's webhost. Hmm. Guess I'll need to revise the forum rules, then...randi wrote:And I could literally turn this into a porn site, and my host wouldn't care unless I went over my bandwidth limit (which is much higher these days than it used to be).
