I've been having a big problem with Zdoom and Zandronum lately
Namely, they've become unplayable.
Every time I try to load any IWAD and play it, I always get extremely slow performance. I'm talking single digit framerate here.
I've done everything I know to do, graphic wise. I run a Vista operating system.

It seems rather unlikely to be an actual ZDoom bug. However, you also haven't provided enough for anyone to work with ("Help things are broken" doesn't really work well for diagnostic purposes.
)
Run ZDoom with the parameter +logfile somelogfilename.log, put the resulting log file and your zdoom-<username>.ini into a zip file and upload them somewhere. If the issue has anything remotely to do with ZDoom, this'll give us something to diagnose.

Make sure you test without mods/autoloads, as well.

He probably doesn't know match, so you should let him know that he should run this parameter via Command Promptedward850 wrote:It seems rather unlikely to be an actual ZDoom bug. Re: SEVERE Slowdown in Zdoom and Zandronum
Sorry that I didn't give any real detail in my orgiinal post, guys.
So far I tried it without any mods, that didn't work.
Turning the graphics and resolution down didn't help either.
I set fullscreen to false in the config file and that didn't help.
I'm honestly thinking it's not Zdoom/Zandronum but something wrong with my PC or operating system. It's not spitting out errors upon load-up, it loads normally but runs at an unplayably slow framerate.
My operating system is Vista Home Basic, g31/g33 chipset family is my video driver.

I actually understood that I'm supposed to run that in command prompt, thank you very much.He probably doesn't know match, so you should let him know that he should run this parameter via Command Prompt
Re: SEVERE Slowdown in Zdoom and Zandronum
You haven't done anything I have asked, by the way.
Re: SEVERE Slowdown in Zdoom and Zandronum
Given that ZDoom and Zandronum are increasingly different engines (although still with a lot of common ground) I'd say you're probably right.seclongo wrote:I'm honestly thinking it's not Zdoom/Zandronum but something wrong with my PC or operating system.
Have you noticed any similar slowdowns with anything else?
Are the games slow immediately (i.e. as soon as you start a game, it is very slow) or do they get slower as you play?
You say the problem has appeared "lately". Presumably you used to be able to run these games? If so, did you change anything about your machine (new hardware, install a new program etc) around the time you noticed that ZDoom's performance had changed?

Sounds like a hardware related problem.
You may check if the fans contain too much dust or other things that cause a safety powerdown. You also should check other programes.
