Amiga's FEARS resources?

Post by Ravick »

Are there any wads or packs with "Fears : Hall Of Light" sprites and stuff? Can Slade rip it?

I'm more interested in this blob guy:

Most probably not. I have precisely zero (0) Amiga games, so I haven't tried poking at their data to see how they look, but from what little I know about Amigas, [wiki]planar[/wiki] image formats were more popular than chunky formats as on the PC. I suppose if the games use a standard image format like TGA then maybe, assuming the archives themselves are also in a standard format (or are a bunch of loose files); but I doubt it.

Oh, that's bad :(

I didn't know about planar images, so that must be why Hexen's startup lumps crashses some older WAD editors, like SlumpEd. I couldn't find sprite sheets of this game in others modder's/developers comunity's too, so I guess it is not easy to rip anyway. =/

It's either hard to rip, or just nobody bothered to do so, so far. You might ask Zero X. Diamond for help, since I know he cracked how some of the games store their files and what graphic formats they use, but still, that was on the PC. Amiga most likely is completely different - I guess that your best bet is to ask in the Amiga communities. My friend who used an Amiga in the past said that the graphics might be in an .iff format, which is readable by DeluxePaint. They also might be embedded in the game's executable - I've heard there's software which is able to scan executables for graphic and sound files.

Btw., I have to ask out of curiosity - did you find this game on your own, or because of my article? ;)

I'm gonna ask him so. I remebred a guy from Zdoom that has posted some very old FPSs resources, but I could not remenber who was that. I'll look for Amiga communities too. Thanks! :D

I've found the game while looking for some very old FPSs, but I'd like to read your article. Give me a link for it, please! :D
