Testing a radio mechanic in my mod. Surprised how it worked out exactly how I imagined it would, given that that rarely happens with anything I do :o
Can you post the code? I'd love to see it and see how it... tics.

No, seriously though.

haaaaaah tics

Sure thing though. It's really simple in theory. It's a one-two combo of ACS and DECORATE. Make 2 very simple dummy inventory items in DECORATE with a max of 1 each. Make a repeating linedef that runs a script similar to this:
Spoiler:
... Which basically checks to see if the player already has an inventory item, and if it doesn't, it replaces it with the other.

For the radio weapon, itself, code it so when it gets to the ready stage, it looks something like this:
Spoiler:

RadioStationGo, in this case, jumps straight to the idle frames where it plays the looping sound. RadioStationPlay occurs when the player is holding the weapon as he has his inventory swapped, so it jumps to a different state where it plays the weird static effect, but then goes to RadioStationGo in the end. That's just for aesthetic purposes, you could eliminate RadioStationPlay entirely. I just think it sounds better than if it suddenly jumped.

Likewise, in the RadioStationGo state, it is essentially a duplicate Ready state with the exact code as the normal ready, but replace the inventory RadioStation with RadioStatic. Same principle applies.

you don't wanna read the fanfic, then. i don't think the song counts, since it doesn't imply anything about death, only that "your fears and horrors come true" and that "not a single soul gets through".
