Looking for a WAD...

Post by ETTiNGRiNDER »

I'm remembering a certain WAD I played that I'd like to find again, but can't remember what it was called. What I do remember is:
- It was an episode for Doom (one).
- It used the Inferno sky, except it was recolored brown.
- Came out in the 21st century, but some years ago.
- It was largely panned at the time of release for being "too reminiscent of the id levels".
- One of those levels was similar to Mt. Erebus (though with less textural insanity)
- It was probably a vanilla WAD, or at least kept things oldschool.

Anyone remember this one?

(Moderators, feel free to make this a general purpose "help find a WAD" thread if deemed appropriate.)

Isn't wonderful doom just giving cool effects to existing already doom levels?

Thanks for the replies, but it isn't either of those. It wasn't so recent a release as DTWID. Wonderful Doom is a closer guess, but it isn't that either... WD does have a Mt. Erebus remake, but it has the same Petersenesque texturing style as the original. I'm remembering something more like Mt. Erebus style architecture (free standing buildings on an island or open space of some sort) but more E1-like texturing. Neither have a brown recolored sky, either, which I'm 99.9% sure of as it was one of the things I remembered most about the WAD. I also think it was one episode (eight or nine levels) rather than a megawad. I think the similarity factor to the original levels was somewhere in between the two... not quite so much remakes of the originals as WD but with more "familiar" places than DTWID.

I think you're confusing Wonderful Doom with Beautiful Doom.
