Anyway to stop doom monster respawn?

There is a way to stop monster respawing in nightmare! skill? For example, in duke nukem 3d when you explode the corpse of monster with explosive weapon like rocket launcher, the monster dont respawn more. I read in internet that a ''solid object'' can stop monster respawing.So, theres a way to ''stop'' monster respawing or ''destroy'' monster?

i found a way to destroy monsters respawning in nightmare! There are only two ways:

1.let the monster sleeping alive;
2.squish a monster in a door or ceiling, he will not respawn again because the dead body is transformed in squish actor. 8-)

Right, but if you're playing with the DooM (Strict) settings, an Archvile can make an invincible (except to rocket launcher explosions) zombiemen or worse; arachnotrons / revenants out of those 'squished actors'.

Looks the same to me, unless you're talking about deathmatch in which case sv_doubleammo is always an option.

It's not the same. Nightmare monsters react faster than -fast.

Impossible. Nightmare is literally just UV with -fast, -respawn, and double ammo pickups. (And a warning prompt)

It seems tacky to say it, but my go-to example for this is Phmlspd map08. The start surrounds you with shotgunners, and gives you 2 BFG shots. The idea is to power through them and rush the corners for cover/distance/ammo.

In UV -fast, you will survive this part about once every three attempts. On Nightmare? After about two hundred tries over the years (I keep trying it everytime the NM=fast controversy pops up, just to be sure), I still haven't managed to get out alive. Not even once. I haven't even broke through the shotgunner "ring".

With that many shotgunners it's very easy to spot the difference, too. On UV -fast they take a step or two towards you before shooting. On NM the salvo is instant for most of them.

This is on PrBoom+ -cl9. In ZDoom you'd want to disable the blockmap fix.

That combination of options is intended to work identically. If it doesn't, then it's silly to look for a workaround to one single component instead of trying to have the actual problem addressed.

(When the brown horse won't run because it has a broken shoe, you don't paint the black horse brown.)

If going by doomwiki.org is a valid source of info (and I'm not saying it is), it does say that Nightmare has a special case that monsters also shoot immediately on sight, unlike UV Fast. If so, that would explain Phml's situation.

I can certainly say that Nightmare monsters attack immediately. I don't have much experience with UV Fast though.

How about playing Doom through Heretic ZDoom? ZDoom -iwad heretic -file ..\doom\doom -warp 1 1 -skill 5
