[Request] Doom-palettify this Necrodome sky texture?

I'm finding this a little difficult. Would it be possible to make this sky conform to the Doom palette without losing any of its color depth? Doesn't really matter what colors are used (grayscale would probably be the most successful but personally I'd rather it be either green or olive).

Mucho thanks in advance.

Hmmm, even grayscale and then the Doom palette loaded on top doesn't give a great result. According to PSP, the image has 1658 colours in it so any reduction to the Doom palette is going to result in a considerable loss given that most colour ranges in the Doom palette are around 30 colours of less. I've tried a few colours but the results weren't great and not worth posting. Perhaps someone with better skills can have a go.

[edit] Well, these are marginally better than my first attempts but I suspect that the colour loss is still unacceptable.

If Necrodome has a palette, I would probably be able to reduce the visible color boundaries even further.

That looks a lot better than my attempts. In fact, that colour range was one that I tried and I simply couldn't get it to look good at all.

Dithered skies have never look good to me in a fullscreen software renderer like ZDoom, based on my past experiences... but it's probably just me? I dunno?

Well fixing it up is a good idea, but unfortunately I'm not one to possess the patience to do so. :v

I decided to make a truecolor version with the Doom color scheme.

Actually scratch what I said there.

And if we're on the topic of non-doom-paletted:

Woot! Thanks to everyone, they're all looking great. Not really too sure which one to use at this point but I'll give them all a go in-game. :D I suspect the truecolor attempts will look best in OpenGL while hopefully not looking too bad in software.

Again, thanks for all the help, everybloody. :P

EDIT: Was a tight competition. :P Looks like Blox's latest looks the best in software in terms of color definition, though Minigunner's were really good too especially for being within the Doom's olive palette range. Thanks, dudes. :)
