Any good Slaughter Maps?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but I really need a good set of Slaughter Maps, especially ones that will let you use a weapon mod, and it's just straight up slaughter, so no hunting for keys or switches. Any good suggestions?
Re: Any good Slaughter Maps?
"Slaughtermap" has a rather precise definition among the Doom community, though I suppose that sort of thing is indeed what you're after, since the genre generally involves mowing down hordes of monsters in arena-ish settings.
I really enjoy Combat Shock 2, to name a recent release, though folks are liable to suggest Sunder, Hell Revealed (and its sequel), and a few other things in that vein. You'll have no shortage of things to play.

LongDays (single map WARNING: You need a beast of a PC too play this.)
New Gothic Movement
Combat Shock
Vanguard
Hanging Gardens (single map)
Holy Hell
No Chance
Skepland
Survive in Hell
Some people have mentioned more that I would've mentioned but these are what I can think of at the moment and I have quite a lot of slaughter wads on my PC.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have a few more things to play Russian Overkill with now, and maybe Psychic.

Re: Any good Slaughter Maps?
I thought "slaughtermap" merely means a level with too many monsters per square, where because of this you're also over-equipped just to survive. Sounds vague and fuzzy, I know.Xaser wrote:"Slaughtermap" has a rather precise definition among the Doom community, though I suppose that sort of thing is indeed what you're after, since the genre generally involves mowing down hordes of monsters in arena-ish settings.

- Speed of Doom, early on
- Unloved (Uses custom monsters, so maybe not for all mods)
- Alien Vendetta, later on
- Deus Vult I, very much, and Deus Vult 0 if you want to try something a bit more eclectic
- Sunder again, because it is probably the grandest of all serious slaughtermaps. Perfect for Russian Overkill.

Dark Tartarus I think falls under this classification. It's a bit rough around the edges in terms of some map designs and monster use (read: stealth monsters make several appearances in several levels and one level is mostly made up of invisible Doom monsters), but if you can look past that then it can be fun and it does have some potential.
