Re: OSJC's In hand Key sprites
Agreed on all but "nearly 20 years." - stop making me feel old...
Re: OSJC's In hand Key sprites
I dunno is it just me but I think these look better. I see keycards as being pretty flat and thin objects.Medricel wrote:

Well, let's be honest, much of the tech in Doom is very much in a 90s "this is what things will look like in the future" style and has already been superseded with real tech. I mean, we already have keycards that are simple, small, thin plastic rectangles.Nightfall wrote:I dunno is it just me but I think these look better. I see no reason why, in a few decades from now, we will have changed to carrying large, awkwardly shaped, clunky bits of printed circuit board around with us instead. Hell, you can already get into and start some cars simply by having the key in your pocket. If doors in star bases work anything like that (even assuming that we will have star bases with lockable doors), there will be no need to see the key at all. But this is Doom, and Doom is not real, so I personally think that a fairly clunky-looking card fits the aesthetic of the game. YMMV
Re: OSJC's In hand Key sprites
I completely agree with you, Enjay. If you want something modern, you can go make a mod for Doom 3.
Aside from that, I absolutely love the new card edits you guys have made. I'll get around to putting them in the key WAD sometime to see what they look like.
EDIT: How are these with no hands? These should work as hi-res sprites.

No problem!
Re: OSJC's In hand Key sprites
Considering the doomguy never inserts the key into the door..Enjay wrote:I see no reason why, in a few decades from now, we will have changed to carrying large, awkwardly shaped, clunky bits of printed circuit board around with us instead. Ultimately though yeah it definitely boils down to YMMV. I just like to think that keycards are flat.
Re: OSJC's In hand Key sprites
Nice work! I thought ID meant to make keycards transparent (or at least they seem an awful lot transparent to me), but apart from that, they're impressive.
For the skull keys,I'd recommend the skull model from Doom3, but this'll do it as well.

Holy Threadbumps, Batman! You're way off track, so let's point you in the right direction.
Here, request stuff like that in this thread instead.
