.o to .acs

Post by FLYBAT »

Is it possible somehow to return compiled script to its source form?
Like, I have found the wad that got a script I'd like to modify and insert in my wad, but the author does not give me the source code. What to do then?

It depends, if it is an older WAD using the older (original Hexen) way of storing scripts there are a few tools that can do it. If it is a newer mod with the newer script storing method then, no, it can't be done with any currently available tools. Which mod is it?

It's Who Dun It and Zombie Horde.
I want to get the script that makes few of the players become monsters and win by killing the others.

I don't suppose you have links to them do you? I can't find them in the idgames database and although I'm sure I've played at least one of them, I can't find them on my HD either.

Those are pretty large scale projects. You should ask permission from their authors if you want to use their scripts, instead of silently copy and pasting them into your project. I'm sure they'd let you use them if you asked nicely.

Do you mean creating the script from scratch will cost me two years of real time?

No, he means that you are probably best to ask permission from the script authors and, who knows, they may even have an uncompiled copy of the script to send you. No harm in asking anyway.

I'm...pretty sure that's just changing teams.

I don't think changing teams in survival even exists.

I'm pretty sure that in the case of Who Dun It and Zombie Horde, it's actually free-for-all Last Man Standing, and the "teams" are done with morphs and damagetype trickery.
