Texture help info needed please

Post by DefconRazor32 »

I'm working on a 128 x128 texture based on doom 2 and i wanna know how do i make it a whole floor texture after i split it to four pieces of 64 x 64 sections. I wanna make doom 2 be able to read the four sections as one whole texture cause i know software mode hates 128 x128 floor textures unless i load them as 64 x64. I'll show the texture I'm working with if some one can please help me on this i want it to be a texture for flooring to work on doom 2 based mapping that's why I'm being so archaic on the mapping cause I'm also using XWE cause that what I'm gonna use for loading. I read anyone posting to use Slade, I'm not gonna respond to it, cause i really dislike it and it's useless for me and my PC no offense. When i load the floor texture i use i always get the floor texture lump so if you read this post keep that in mind cause i use xwe's load directly in the floor section when i load up the textures i never use the load raw which is unless i use fully colored textures. I only been using palette restricted textures .

Any help would be appreciated even if its' lump info.

Uh... there's no way to do what you want in vanilla doom.

What's wrong with just making four sectors in a map, and setting each one to a different corner of the complete texture?

@SLADE hate: that's a bit harsh...

I appreciate the honesty in the answer. I just wish there was a a way. The problem with the four sections is what if you had to do like 50 or 100 sectors for one special texture on a whole floor an other and other parts of the map making the map thus looking laggy, Chronoseth.

I know i may sound harsh, but maybe if you look at these screenshots maybe you'll understand.This was after i loaded xwe which is the common program i use for all my export importing needs and then viewed on Slade straight from my desktop.

screenshots as proof:
Spoiler:

All those textures are pictures of my sprite reworking being showed in ugly colorless mode from Slade. Until that gets fixed i doubt I'll ever change my my mind and i apologize that i use the word hate, but Slade just isn't my cup of tea or java when i have to deal with those original photos looking like utter ugliness when they aren't even grays or whites and just pure colored textures.

It's not a problem with slade. You don't have a base resource archive set and you haven't selected Doom's palette.

Found it the base archive i needed i needed, finally got it fixed thanks so much. I think i won't feel so hateful anymore, now I'll just need to learn more about the lump making and all the patch stuff myself when i get a chance. I appreciate all the help you did for me ChronoSeth.
