E3M1 Redux! [WIP] (Beta?)

Post by Alvas »

Alright, this map is is complete, not finished but complete. It can be played from beginning to end, however it's not without its bugs so I present E3M1! available for testing! I feel that as far as mapping goes, it's pretty spiffy I do have a lack of decorations in my opinion but I want your input! Show me the money!
Hey everyone, my last idea for a wad kinda fell on deaf ears so I'm now posting a spiffy new version of Hell Keep (E3M1). That's right! A deeper dive, headfirst, into the Abyss that is Hell itself. The map is not finished yet I feel that it is looking quite swell though. I need feedback, positive or negative, I want it to be good, no baby stuff. My goal is to revive Doom's first impression of the living, breathing torment that we call Hell. I'm not using any scripts, I don't feel they are needed for this level of mapping personally. The map is in Hexen format.

The "Duh" Stuff:
- load up the wad in your favorite source port
- use Ultimate Doom (yes, It's played on Doom 1 since its a Doom 1 map by origin)
- New Game->Inferno->Any Difficulty (implemented but not perfectly)
-Alternatively just go to E3M1

Screenshots!
Spoiler:
Download the wad here

It's better to wait until the screenshots are finished to post your thread.
But yeah I'll go ahead and try it out.

That was really shot, I mean really really short.
You will probably want to finish more of the wad before posting a beta.
I got a HOM effect on the sloped pentagram. Other than that that area is really awesome, how long did it take you to finish it?
Anyway it was decent but nothing noteworthy, do finish this though.

Try Imgur. Forum uploads are limited and not as flexible anyway.

Thanks for the input, It is a start, not even a halfway finished project obviously. It took probably 3 days of off and on mapping. I'm curious about this HOM you speak of, can you be more specific?

Not too bad. It feels sort of a mid-aged Doom Map (which is good, IMO). I haven't noticed any HOMs, but over all. Pretty decent. Though, it did feel a bit bare, maybe I was playing on Hurt Me Plenty.

I have noticed that some of the trees and other objects are set to specific difficulties, my bad I will fix that.
