[Trivial] Wrong game definition stated

Post by Risen »

If you try to play the second or third episode of Heretic while running the shareware IWAD, it says you need to buy the full version of Doom.

I only got it to see if I could coerce H-Quest to run, but it turns out the -file restriction is preserved. Not that I expected it to work anyway, I'm sure there are a lot of resources missing. Anyone know of a FreeHeretic project? Heh.

Why not just go buy Heretic from somewhere? If you can't find it locally, you could try EBay, and if you can't get it there, it's $20 from the id store, and includes the expansion (5 episodes total).

I really have no desire to purchase Heretic because I will never play it, I never really liked it to begin with, and I need to save all of the meager salary I'm getting that I can if we're going to buy a pool table for the new condo sometime next month. :)

All I want is to see LWM's expertly created game systems. I might consider it if my $20 contribution went to LWM...

Well, a certain person* around happened to send me Heretic for no real reason except to help me out, and it runs perfectly (though it's just the wad (but that's all ZDOOM needs)). Maybe you'll run into that guy.

I've been offered it three times now. I'm well aware of the availability of it as warez, but this never has been about not being able to get it at all.

Pool tables don't have freelook, cooperative mode or custom wads, go Heretic.

Is his problem fixed or the fact that pool tables dont have freelook, coop mode and custom WADS fixed? (lol)

Anyways, you should still buy the full version of doom if the mighty ZDOOM.EXE says so. (Hail the Z!)

PS: Why is it ZDooM?

ZDoom has a Z on it so it always appears last in the list of source-ports.

I thought it was because of the 'zlib' compiler
