That and, again, it's a small community. "(person) is an asshole who cheats, don't let him on your servers" spreads quickly.Zippy wrote:It's such a small community I don't see it as being much of a problem anyway. Any cheat that would get any amount of notoriety could probably be quickly patched and/or traced.
Oh yeah, Skulltag got open-sourced.

You don't know how much of a headache it is for admins to sort out which cheating rumors are true.Ceeb wrote:That and, again, it's a small community. I believe they are already on Torm's armory.NeuralStunner wrote:Oh, and the special weapons. ZDoom users are pretty much forced to rip and rewrite those if they want 'em.

If anyone wants to take a shot at compiling it, I made a guide: http://www.skulltag.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24137

There's a simple rule with rumors like that: they're basically never true. This is the internet. There will be whining.Spleen wrote:You don't know how much of a headache it is for admins to sort out which cheating rumors are true.Ceeb wrote:That and, again, it's a small community. The difference between rumor and actual trouble is the presence of evidence; the actual cheat itself. Which, again due to the small community size would be hard to keep under wraps, unless going the route of never distributing it at all, which solves most of the problem itself anyway. Mix with a healthy dose of sarcastic, "The internet is serious business," and you've got something that turns out to be not much of a big deal no matter how you slice it.

Aimbotters will get banned from the master server anyway, and then they'll go crying about on Skulltag to Metalhead so I'm ok with that. It's their skulltagging experience they screw up, not mine

All of this is precisely why I loathe multiplayer games.
