ZDoom/Keyboard help

Post by sonicdoommario »

I just had to replace my keyboard, and my new keyboard is just a multimedia Dynex. However, some of the keys do not play nice with ZDoom. For example, the ` key didn't open the console for me anymore, even though the ` key was listed as my console key. I re-entered that key under "Customize Controls" and it worked, as ZDoom recognizes the key name as "Kanji."

What's worse is that the + button doesn't work completely with ZDoom on this keyboard. For example, the + on the keyboard will zoom in on the automap, but the + next to the numbers will not. Neither + key on my keyboard increases the screen size as it is supposed to. However, my - key works completely fine, so I am stuck with shrinking the screen size and have no way of zooming it back to the normal screen size.

Has anyone else here ever picked up these issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried tweaking the settings on the Registry to what you provided in that topic, but it didn't really help.

Did you install a driver for your keyboard? If so, what if you uninstall it?

I'm not too sure I can really do anything about this in a fail-safe way. Something is apparently altering the scancodes that Windows sees coming from the keyboard. On a real Japanese keyboard, the kanji key is down by the space bar, not to the left of the 1 key. The key left of 1 is supposed to have the same scancode as on a US keyboard, so it should behave the same in-game. The key to the right of - should still function as +, even though it's labeled differently, since the scan code is the same as on a US keyboard.

I installed a driver update from Windows Update onto the thing.

I then rolled back the driver so that it would just use the driver that Windows comes with (you know, dated 7/1/2001), but that didn't work.

Here's a link to the keyboard I use.
