Linux renders completely blue on old laptop

Post by Blzut3 »

Although I'm fairly certain this is going to be closed with something like [X sucks], I thought I would report this just in case it's something fixable. I also did not include the revision number since I'm unsure what version I compiled and the laptop has issues booting (due to a dead backup battery). (On a second thought [Use a Working Laptop] might be a better tag :p)

On my IBM 380XD ZDoom renders in a limited palette of blues.

A screenshot produces a full color image so I've taken a picture of my screen: http://blzut3.maniacsvault.net/bluescale.jpg The picture is of Skulltag, but I did test a fairly recent version of ZDoom. (Not sure what revision as I did the checkout a while ago. I know it has the console music library.)

Heh, I have an old 380Z sitting right over here... Hasn't been booted in years. I'll try compiling zdoom on it later and see what happens ;p

Also, what distro is it running? I think mine is running debian woody.

I think I installed plain Ubuntu with only the command line and then installed fluxbox.

Edit: I've done some further testing with this. The problem is not limited to ZDoom. Apparently X doesn't handle converting 256 colors to 16-bit well.
