Re: Night of the Homeless Alpha Releases! (Testers Wanted)
Huh, that's all it'd take?
I might do a simple multiplayer patch soon, then - I have some ideas for a class based mod that I might do later, though...

Re: Night of the Homeless Alpha Releases! (Testers Wanted)
One of my few complaints about this mod is that The Brick is unaffected by infinite ammo; it still gets removed from your inventory and requires you to go pick it up again.
It's disappointing to not be able to turn that on and sv_fastweapons 2 and just hurl bricks everywhere.
Also, if you change the weapon spawning code so that it spawns the old doom weapons and have the new weapons just replace them in their DECORATE, you would achieve compatibility with pretty much every weapon mod ever, (excluding dehacked ones, of course, but there might be a way to work around that on the user end...) which would make it even more popular if you make it Skulltag compatible.
Of course, it might get ignored because everyone's too busy playing Dwango5, but that's one of the perils of modding for Doom.

Well, yeah, it's a brick. Shit's heavy, you know.Ethril wrote:One of my few complaints about this mod is that The Brick is unaffected by infinite ammo; it still gets removed from your inventory and requires you to go pick it up again.

One part of the weapon spawners is that weapons' spawn states only last a certain period of time. Without that you'd eventually get a big pile of weapons on a spawn point, killing some of the challengeEthril wrote:Also, if you change the weapon spawning code so that it spawns the old doom weapons and have the new weapons just replace them in their DECORATE, you would achieve compatibility with pretty much every weapon mod ever, (excluding dehacked ones, of course, but there might be a way to work around that on the user end...) which would make it even more popular if you make it Skulltag compatible.

Pretty much.Ethril wrote:Of course, it might get ignored because everyone's too busy playing Dwango5, but that's one of the perils of modding for Doom.

Chill! I was at work today! D:
Re: Night of the Homeless Alpha Releases! (Testers Wanted)
I played it, everything seems fine except for those two HOM's on the slopes on Gutrot Island. The Genocide map was... interesting. Is it just supposed to be falling?
One thing about my map (Last Stand) - the pedestal "island" that you get to by hopping over several islands shouldn't display the "You found the secret powerup island!" message (that should be for the one near the two-level building that you can only get to with the Jetpack). I think it's because those islands are both in the same sector and use a "Player Touches Sector Floor" object to show the message.

Let's just say everyone will be getting the files sooner rather than later.UBX Master wrote:I wanna test, lemme get the files. I'll post later.

Methinks that either you're not getting enough feedback, or it's much more complete than you expected.Kinsie wrote:Let's just say everyone will be getting the files sooner rather than later.UBX Master wrote:I wanna test, lemme get the files. I'll post later.
Or worse, you're getting rather sick of working on the project and just want to be done with it.

It means I have something stable and fixed enough to release on the specific date I want to release this. I still want to add new stuff, but there's enough interesting things and bugfixes for people to play with in this release.Project Dark Fox wrote:Methinks that either you're not getting enough feedback, or it's much more complete than you expected.Kinsie wrote:Let's just say everyone will be getting the files sooner rather than later.UBX Master wrote:I wanna test, lemme get the files. Sweet.
That's good news.

You could always release new stuff as expansion packs like GvH did.Kinsie wrote:It means I have something stable and fixed enough to release on the specific date I want to release this.
