Yeah, glomp FEELS better than frak, I'm afraid.

The word "frak" is amusing to myself and the other furries I talk to. However, I won't say why unless sent a private message...Captain Ventris wrote:Yeah, glomp FEELS better than frak, I'm afraid.
Re: What kind of jokewad do YOU prefer?
I hate most jokewads, though rarely it kind of works. dwforums1-3, cif1 and 2 (not 3 as it didn't work for me...
) and some of Wills' better ones worked alright for me on a humour basis. A much larger number of wads didn't though. Enigma 13 kind of worked for me too, but only because it played quite well and was more eccentric than funny.
Generally thoug,h I'd rather play a bog standard Doom2 styled user-made map.

Proof, if proof were needed, that I'm not a furry because I thought it was from Battlestar Galactica.Ceeb wrote:The word "frak" is amusing to myself and the other furries I talk to. However, I won't say why unless sent a private message...

Enjay's wisdom prevails. 'Tis where I learned the frakking term myself as well. Catchy, 'tis.
On a completely unrelated note, if I ever catch myself actually talking like what I just wrote in real life, remind me to kick myself in the face until unconscious.

Actually I'm aware of that, it just takes on a different meaning to my friends and I.Xaser wrote:Enjay's wisdom prevails. 'Tis where I learned the frakking term myself as well.

Re: What kind of jokewad do YOU prefer?
The funny thing about its use in BSG is that it is such a literal, one-to-one replacement with "fuck" in new series (even being used in constructions like "motherfrakker") that its silliness is greatly multiplied.Enjay wrote:Proof, if proof were needed, that I'm not a furry because I thought it was from Battlestar Galactica.Ceeb wrote:The word "frak" is amusing to myself and the other furries I talk to. Hmm, I see

Which greatly multiplies that statement's silliness on my end. "frak" replaces "frak", seems like. Good deal. ;PWoolie Wool wrote:The funny thing about its use in BSG is that it is such a literal, one-to-one replacement with "frak" in new series...

Turn off your chat filter, dumbass.

The effort it would take to shut it off is too much to merit any reward gained by having it off.
Besides, the conversations are arguably more enjoyable to read with it on, as evidenced above.

leileilol wrote: unfortunately, do-tims does not fall into the 'minimal effort' category. It took years to develop it and even to betatest it. I assume graf never played past map01, because there's some impressive ACS and architecture in it. (not to mention gameplay especially coop with friends, unless GRAF HAS NO FRIENDS)
MAP02 actually, and I sampled the rest. For me this is one of the saddest projects ever. Tons of time were invested to create something that's essentially pure crap. What a waste!
Re: What kind of jokewad do YOU prefer?
And thus a certain peeve of mine once again comes into play. This isn't meant to be a stab-in-the-face to Graf, but rather to anyone who consistently uses this kind of thing.
*ahem*
If you don't like it, then you damn well don't like it. But unless the general consensus is in agreement, "it is crap" is a blatant, flat-out lie.
Scientifical Evidence: A says "it is crap" while B says "it is not crap." If A's statement is taken as "true" by default, then B's has to be considered "true" as well. Obviously, statements A and B cannot be "true" at once, therefore they must both be "false"
Thus, LIES
Or to put it into less fake-factual and more satirical words, quit leavin' your opinions as high n' mighty statements of fact in order to slam someone's project. Cite your sources or I will send armies of English teachers to reprimand you for the rest of eternity. Class dismissed.

Yeah...
But seriously, do-tims is pretty bad. Or rather I should say not fun to play. Which basically is really bad. I chugged my way through the first few levels and quickly realized I was never having fun. Perhaps even having the fun sucked out of me. I don't recall much about it anymore as there wasn't anything in do-tims I could describe as memorable, but I think I finished it. I'm pretty sure that I probably cheated a whole bunch as well. It just never became enjoyable to play.
In my mind a jokewad, like basically any other wad, is still beholden to the rule of fun. If it isn't actually fun to play... then it isn't worth the bytes that make it up. do-tims was a big violator of that. Mock 2 is a reasonable example of a good jokewad: it's generally fun to actually play it (it has its own weak moments in this department, but on the whole it's fun). Humorwise it's not riotously funny, but there's a lot of chuckles in it.
So, yeah, I agree that it's a little worthless to just call things crap and leave it at that... buuuuuuuuut I'd have to say this particular case is highly, highly forgivable.
