Here you go :P

Made those for Stronghold, but I'm not sure if they'll get used...

Btw, I like the new design of the Demon Shredder, but I agree, that the previous version looked a bit more "crabby".
Personally I don't think it's a bad thing and I actually like the new version better!
OMG. I don't think I need to inform you this is undoubtedly your best work to date? :P

Heh
It took me month to get all of those high-detail and overly realistic sprites done :P

Well I can certainly see why; it's not every day you see an exploding crab. The research costs alone must have been through the roof.

The worst is that you couldn't even get free seafood from said researches, since there remained not enough of the crab to be salvaged for a meal...

Given the size of the crab compared to the player, it's a huge crab. It should leave behind plenty of meat. :D (Unless you're allergic to crustaceans, like me, then it woudn't matter since eating it causes your head to explode).

Huge? Oh please, that thing's puny, not a giant enemy crab at all.

Nah, that's just the "Alice in Wonderland" effect that's applied to all first-person perspective games to compensate for the small size of the game's display compared to real-life field of vision. When small things (animals, items, etc.) are in realistic scale, they tend to be too small.

Inversely, buildings tend to be out of scale in the other way, much smaller than they "should" be.

I just figured I'd get it out of the way now so it wouldn't get brought up 2 pages later when everyone's talking about something else.

"Forsaken" (Hellforge Revenant) test

Image

Testing the armor design for the replacement for the Revenant in Ep2. Wasn't sure if I could shade the armor correctly, but turned out ok. Still far-far from finished, and the armor still looks a bit flat (a few highlights should fix it). The plan for the monster is to have some sort of sword and a single shoulder-mounted cannon. The monster, otherwise, is exactly like the Revenant (since it only replaces it for aesthetics).

The Mancubus will be replaced with the "Corpulent", and the Arachnotron with the "Arachnodrone". Same monsters, just with a bit of the more hellish technology-base. This should fix the problem that "If the hellsmith makes all the weapons, why are there no monsters that uses his weapons?" problem that was previlent in the previous versions of EP2.

It does look a little flat, but as you said, you were going to fix that. Looks pretty good, otherwise, and it fits well with the other sprite edits in Ep2 (which had very few from-scratch monsters, and a lot of intricate edits).

Also, dang, I was hoping for something I could use for RoE. ;)

I like the one shoulder cannon approach. The original Revenants didn't make much sense.

Looks nice!

Are you sure about giving it a sword? Personally I think a mace or flail would fit better, but that's just my opinion :P

It looks like its dancing in that animation :P

And you do raise a good point about consistency there - that is proper attention to detail.
