What bothers me on occasion on Doomworld is that the oldschoolers try to shout down anti-oldschool discussions until an oldschool moderator comes along using this as a justification for helling the thread. To be honest I don't like to have discussions with these people - especially when they come in packs.

Sounds like one will need a good ol' juicy Super Shotty pickup before encountering these things. Gotta be careful around there.

One question - Is the main reason for this mod GOW gameplay (I mean that Dodging/covering system from GOW) or GOW visual style?

Because I think visually GOW is just another Quake rip-off - nothing worth puting any time to replicate it.

I'm actually not making the WAD for any of those reasons; I just really like the character, monster, weapon, and level design. Applying the retro-ish Doom look to it might look pretty cool.

I've always been a little more bothered by the people who shout down new mappers' attempts at making a level until a massive flame war erupts and the threat needs to be locked or half the posts deleted.

I gotta say that I was pretty skeptical of this at first, but I like your designs so far and I think this has potential if handled right. Are you planning to continue with the sort of semi-cartoon look (presumably with some shading and whatnot), or are you ultimately going to go for a more realistic art style?

@JonnyFive: That's actually a very good question...
I don't really know if it's possible to make realistic sprites for Doom. I doubt I have the experience for doing that, anyways...

Here's kind of an example of what I wanna do - have you guys heard of Doom 2.5 (with the Doom 3 for Doom 2 resources)? Have you seen what the weapons look like? I'd like to do that for Gears of War :rock: . Hopefully, that's helpful.

I'm not really aiming for a "cartoon" look, though. If you've seen the GOW comic book cover link (on the first page of this thread), then I'm shootin' for something like that, more or less... :)

I haven't really posted any updates in quite a while, so here's an extra-large update (not all of the future sprite images will be enlarged, but the details I've added on the bandana are a little hard to see in the normal view)!
I also edited the shoulder pad's shape. You might notice the new texturing on the hair, which makes it much less doodle-ish.

The only thing left to do in MS Paint is the skin. Can I get some advice for texturing it, because I don't really know where to start. I could play around with it a bit, but I can't exactly promise anything...

After MS Paint, the sprite will be moved to GIMP (again, ugh...) for polishing off. I'm not completely confident with this, since I was proud of only one modification in my first GIMP-edit.
Would anybody like to give it a shot? I never really asked if my sprite updates are convincing enough for anyone to want to join the team... A reply would be nice, since I've still got those other weapon outlines ready...

If you're going through the trouble of making custom sprites why not just make your own game instead of a copy of a game that already exists.

i see, is third person shooter, in a fact is like re4 respective...but that game is for pc?
maybe exist a model viewer for that game!
