[SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Ah, the stupid D&D monsters... The beholder is deadly at long range, what with his ten eye rays. But he's not so tough, so to fight one, the best bet is to rush him and clobber him in melee. So, of course, arrives the gas spore, a floating fungi that somehow looks just like a beholder, and that explodes when pierced; so that if you rush one in melee you suffer for it. Old D&D editions are full of stuff like that designed expressly to screw with the players. (Kind of like when you enter in a room with a table, a chest, a chair, and a cloak on the chair; and it turns out that the table is a monster, the chair is a monster, the cloak is a monster, the chest is a monster, the ceiling is a monster, the floor is a monster, and each of the wall is covered in flesh-dissolving, mind-controlling goo.)
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
All depends how fair your GM is. A hint or a PCN check is all it takes to stop you making a tit of yourself - provided your DM is fair. If your DM is a dick, then he'll set you up for a fall with, or without, the assistance of the mong-manual. But then, I wouldn't be playing in his game for long anyway. Personally, I quite like gas spores and, as a player, have been in situations where I was allowed by my DM to use them to my advantage (think Doom barrels
).
That being said, the world/rules are full of creatures who's ecological niche seems to be nothing more than that of "big scary thing that preys on adventurers" and that can't be a sustainable ecosystem.

I did say as much.Enjay wrote:The look of the sprites is a bit more cartoony than Doom

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Well, you've certainly learned a lot more than I ever have. Those are really nice. Do you plan on making any of them into full sets?Dracken wrote:im still learning to sprite ay
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Wow, yes, those are awesome. Have you done full sprite sets for these things? I'd like to see the "Zombie Tech Marine" (and maybe the rest, if you have the time/motivation, that is
) to be taken further.
In fact, would you be interested in us using some of those in Stronghold? We could really use some new NPC sprites, and those are just the sort of thing we'd be looking for.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I could be wrong, but the scientists look as if they are based on some sprites from Ghostbusters Doom. If so, Scuba Steve deserves a mention too.
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
woops ta mate, cant forget scuba steve big credit to him
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
The playable characters are nice!
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Dracken, I could certainly use the tech zombie's helmet for the Doom 3 Machinegun ZSec, if you have rotations for it
. That monster would be great for the Beastiary, by the way.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
They'd all look great with full rotations and even better as a full sprite set.
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
ill see what i can do, atm i can only spirte in my free time, ill have ago at rotations soon

can anyone give me a link to the original monster sprites and tell me how to put my sprites on here?
