Can you give me a place, a site where I can find modified sprites for weapons, monsters, etc....?

Modified from what?
WADS created for ZDoom - many of these use custom resources in some form or other.

Re: modified sprites
Or the Gimp (has the advantage of being free), or PSP, or Photoshop. Paint is only good for real small details (as drescribed in a thread by Eriance)Pinky's ass wrote:Start---> Programs ---> Paint

Re: modified sprites
Thanks, dudes...
Re: modified sprites
My problem with The GIMP is that it takes ages to load. If I just want to double click on a sprite to have a quick look at it and change a few pixels, the GIMP is not the way to do it. Which is a shame because it seems pretty good, but I'm just not finding the opportunities to use it often enough. On the other hand, my copy of PSP 7.04 loads quickly and does almost everything I want it to do. But it's not free and it's an older version too: the last version before it was taken over by Corel I think.InsanityBringer wrote:Or the Gimp

You can do small changes in PhotoShop as well. Just switch to a 1pt pencil and you won't get the brush blur.
Or use 1pt brush and set mode to pencil. Your call.

Haha, I actually never used it. I just thought it should be able to do something. I do all my editing through Photoshop.Enjay wrote:My problem with The GIMP is that it takes ages to load. Re: modified sprites
What about Paint.net? It's free and the love child of Paint and PSP/Photoshop, I think.

Hey, I'll try anthing once, as the actress said to the bishop. Downloading now.XutaWoo wrote:What about Paint.net?
What I'd really like is a modernised version of Deluxe Paint. I still occasionally use DPaint for DOS because it does stuff ideally suited to game work that I haven't found done as well in any other programs. But it's just so old and clunky and doesn't support modern file or screen formats. I'm sure I read somewhere once that id used DPaint for some of the graphic touch-up work when making Doom.

Re: modified sprites
Those of you looking for a graphics program for pixel art might like mtPaint. I have been using the gimp for everything for quite some time, but occasionally I use mtpaint to make adjustments to sprites or other small images. For those of you using paint, this is paint on steroids. It supports layers, gradients, lots of palette operations, RGB mode, and lots of other familiar features. It also loads fast as shit. Of course if you were using the gimp in gnome instead of windows, it would load quite fast also (as gtk2 would already be loaded). Gimp is much slower on windows because it has to load gtk2.
Anyway, my point is go check out mtpaint, even if you already have "the baddest gfx editor ever." You will be pleasantly surprised.
