More Doombuilder tinkering: Reviving Gothicka...

Post by iSpook »

For the better part of the present day, I've been in a creater's slump over what to Map or somehow make for this game, although Just now it seems to be coming back to me. The reasoning behind this is the tinkering on the Old Wad project of mine: Gothicka (Name inspired, obviously, by the Textures used in the Pwad "Gothic DM.") The original wad itself was lost to oblivion of Cleaning sprees in my Doom folder. So I had to start from scratch, and with a collection of custom textures from diffrent sources, I have made.. Alright progress so far.

Since people don't like it when others make threads claiming they're working om something without proper Screen shots to make sure they're not just bluffing or the project seems 'noobish.' I have provided 4 screen shots of the 2 main areas so far. All screenshots "Spoiler'd" to prevent lag with all the images opening at once.

Starting 'room.' If you can call it, looks more like a Goth-Prison cell to me, but that's just my imagination.
Spoiler:
The area that the player will arrive after stepping into the teleporter. (In the middle of a pit of blood that is shaped like a + sign.)
Spoiler:
The next two screen shots are of the area that will eventually dedecend to a doorway that'll take the player over a blood pool like pit. The first is a center shot showing the progress (The bottom is still in construction.) And the second is in the right hand corner.
Spoiler:
Spoiler:
Note: The blood's light is set to 255 because that's how I had it set up in The original wad, using the Transfer Floor-lright special to prevent akward light bars on the ceiling, although there will be some due to having to manuallly Raise the light to 255 to light up the blood fall textures.

Looks good, but shouldn't this be in the Projects?

It would be, but this isn't a fullblown project...

Looks legitimate enough to me, and it is still a project. Whatever, Screens look nice so I approve either way.

Interesting screenshots you got there.

If your work is still considered a project in your opinion, it should be in Projects. After all, it is called Projects.

I don't consider it as anything more than a Tinkering in Doombuilder.

Why not just use the transfer ceiling-light special on the ceiling?

Because I did not know how to do the ceiling light special at that time, so I kept to the style when I started the project up again, although I did use the ceiling special for the sectors that were manually lightened up, match the rest of the ceiling.

Edit: Added a new screen shot; nothing special, just a small lift that lowers the player to the second out of three rooms of the second part of the level.

Not much Progress has been made, the second bigg area will be an underground Crypt/river area with various walkways and areas to move though to reach the third segment of the first section of the level..

That's a nice thought, but the images all load at page load, not when you push the spoiler button.
