Phobus wrote:Stuff about attitudes etc
I think you have a point and, perhaps with rose-tinted 20-20 hindsight, it was more friendly back in the early(or earlier) days.

However, I also think the "haters" deserve to get called on their attitude. I mean, where do they get off insulting people because they gave up almost 3 years worth of spare time to make something for nothing to try and entertain a bunch of people they don't really even know?

Of course, the correct response to the haters is to ignore them and treat them with the contempt they deserve. Giving them KDiZD is a case of casting pearls before swine IMO. However, if someone is picking on you for petty and pointless reasons which are nominally for something you did that was done for free and for the benefit of others (as well as yourself of course) it can be hard to ignore petty wankers sniping at you. Of course, we all know that many of the people "dissing" the project are doing so for reasons other than the project itself. What small minded dickheads.

If someone genuinely doesn't like KDiZD (or any project), then that's fine and, to be fair, most of the posts in this thread from people who aren't impressed with it are genuine posts of "I didn't like it for reasons A) B) and C)". They aren't particularly picking on the people who made it, nor throwing it back in their faces. Fine, that just means the project wasn't to their taste. As for the others - fukk'em - they're not worth it.

The people who complain and whine about this WAD are just jealous. Let's see them put together a finished project of this size.

heh, sorry if I sounded "harsh" or as though I was bashing, the whole thing about NiGHTMARE dates back to a doomworld post a year, 2 years ago and was just poking fun at him harmlessly.

I was just simply stating what I personally would've liked to see and what I didn't really like about it and just my general opinion. Comparing it to what everyone made it out to be, it just seemed to me at least like it should've been more than what it came to be in the end.

Maybe this could be used to improve it in the future, I don't know, but I've had my say and that's all I really have to offer.

**points at her title** I'll take that as a challenge.

What about the people who legitimately dislike it due to a hatred of large-scale switch hunts? Or is ten thousand sectors a license to silence legitimate dislike?

This mod has a huge amount of effort and TLC put into it, but in some select cases (LEVEL 3) that unfortunately does not automatically equal fun.

Horses for courses I guess.

Having played through the whole thing maybe 7 or 8 times including pre-release versions, I think Z1M3 is possibly (and only just) my favourite map. I've probably played it an additional 5 or 6 times by warping directly to it. And I don't like switch/key hunts. I always make a point of getting all 6 keys even if I plan on leaving by the non-secret exit. :D

I just completed it this morning, here's my ultra-long review after a play through on Hurt Me Plenty (sorry, but a brief two-line comment doesn't match my definition of a review):

Also, I was said to be AGILE and INACCURATE at the end. I assume I'm AGILE because I don't get hit much, but I'm a bit puzzled by the INACCURATE rating, since I almost never miss. Perhaps when I use the super shotgun and it makes a lot of extra bullet puffs around your target it counts as missing? If so, I can understand it more easily, as I love using the super shotgun. But then, it seems a bit silly that your accuracy goes down as your target does :)

Okay, Nash. Do this for me.

Load up and warp to E1M9. In the original E1M9 area, go to where you find the chaingun when you take a lift down and encounter a nukage pit surrounding a sole island in the center of the level and a corner that juts out to the side. Swim up to the corner and jump up onto it. Blow up the barrel if it gets in your way. Then go up to the panel, use it, and read. Note the bottom credit the monitor gives.

Also note that I was once known as Destroyer years ago before I decided to change my nickname.

Why would I be jealous if I was part of the original team that worked on it?

You're not the only person who doesn't like this WAD. I was talking about many other people as well, especially the ones who simply hates the WAD for no solid reason other than "just because".

Found a bug in Z1M3, near the secret exit train - if you stand at the spot where the lion Baron thingy is supposed to appear (at the glowing pentagram), the monster fails to spawn and you get to skip the fight. :P

Haha, considering that I've barely participated or even said anything good about KDIZD since the beginning (if you'd go as far as to actually look through my post history), I think your post just made yourself look stupid.

Great job on the project though. Even if it has it's flaws on it, like in the music, which is incomplete.

Oh, I forgot, I AM JacKThERiPPeR as you can see.

Phobus: Any item counted by doom is one that can always be picked up (health bonus, armor bonus, powerups). Ammo, armor, and health do not count as items. So, it doesn't matter how good your aim or dodging is, you still have the same chance at getting them. It's just a matter of finding them and picking them up, or not.
