)If people read this thread carefully, they probably will notice the stink of hotwax influence. hotwax has had an opportunity to be a leader of sorts here, he being a long-term forum member. For whatever reasons, and you all might want to consider what those reasons may be, he's never been content to contribute in a positive manner, but has taken up the habit of being the "leading flamer". Oh yes, isn't he so witty? Well not really, he's more likely trying to compensate for his unhappy and persecuted childhood. Why else revel in meanness and think it's funny?
I've watched his antics for several years and finally I've had enough, so I'm just speaking my mind.
You will also notice that he will be sorely tempted to reply to this; I have never, ever, seen hotwax do anything other than continue to put in the last word, no matter how trivial. I've never liked him since he tossed cold water on a few of my first posts on these forums some years ago, and he has since only demonstrated more adept meanness, no honest maturation.
Since I expect this to be my last post here, I'll try to be more clear about what's bothering me about this thread. The original poster had a valid point and there was no problem with his post that I could see. Realize that neither he nor I read every single post here so it wasn't understood that this was a repeat. Then a few people started with the attitude, like some of you have started to examine, dissect and criticize posts. Why is that? My opinion is that it's the stink of hotwax influence on some of our younger and more eager members. I'm convinced that hotwax has been instrumental in setting a "tone" here in the forums, expecially since the change of forum software, and I've recently called him on it. He could have done better than that, but for his use of this forum to fill a phychological need of some sort that I'd invite you to examine.
So the originator of the thread happened to be somewhat sensitive to the smell of attitude in some of the replies, and commented. That was fair enough, and finished, until mister smartass decided to lay one more little verbal turd here in our space. If there is anything I don't like, it's a smartass and a chicken shit bully hiding behind his keyboard. Someone said that they would reserve decent manners for "face to face" situations, but that since the internet was populated by some real assholes that being rude was the "only way to go". I disagree. This forum is habited by the same people on a continnual basis primarily, so decent manners and attitude are of real value I believe.
Having become tired of the forum tone of late, the tone that hotwax has nurtured by his frequent "master flamer" leadership, I'll just check back in the downloads area for updates, that's it. My guess is that most here don't agree with me, or don't care. That's OK, it's probably a "generational thing" as I said before. I have too many other more important fish to fry at this point, a dissolving marriage to deal with and two fine kids to support. Y'all take care, some of you have been a pleasure to know and I'll always be grateful for the help I received here in the past. Thanks to Randy for the great fun zdoom has provided these past years!

Eh, if anything, HotWax's "misbehavior" is compensated by his "behavior" (no pun intended). He does lash out at "noobs", but it rarely happens when they are not acting like an idiot and/or asshole (something I don't do personally, but that's just me). Another point is that he is generally helpful to people. And he is a good source of laughs; this is one place I don't want to feel like I'm at a funeral.

Oh Jesus Christ, people. This is a forum, not a god damned soap opera. Biff, leave if you like, but if you're seriously going to take your ball and go home because you don't like my attitude, I think *you're* the one with childhood issues. As for my "meanness", I haven't hurt Nash in any way. I can guarantee you that if he's lost the use of any limbs recently, it's not due to my post. hotwax, you throw up a pretty good smokescreen. I think my simple point is actually going over your head. Let me try to be clear and I welcome others to confirm or deny my point.
My point is NOT to say that "hotwax is an ass" or that he should just be quiet. My point IS that historically on these forums, we have moderated our own behavior. We are free to state our opinions and argue our points. That is pretty much what happened in this thread. Until, that is, hotwax had to cross the line we used to have against name callling. It's that simple. IMO he's perfectly welcome to state his opinion that "no one poked at you" to the original poster. He's NOT perfectly welcome to then drag the forum quality down by dropping to the childish behavior of name-calling. I'm sick of seeing that.

I'm asking you to just consider others too and moderate your behavior when you have the urge to dish out the dirt. You are taking this discussion way out of bounds when you talk about "babysitting" and "wiping drool". That's why I don't think you understand the simplicy of the situation. Of course your opinions are welcome as are all others, I'm not slamming your opinions. I'm slamming your increasing tendency to lower the quality of your posts with those little "verbal turds" like taunts and name calling. I never thought we needed a moderator here, now I'm starting to change my mind.)

So that's what I've been asking of hotwax, since he actually serves as an example here by his long membership and very frequent posts. Simply remember that many people share the forum space and the majority of us show reasonable manners to make this a more enjoyable place. I will bet that most of you will agree with this simple point - no gratuitous name-calling should be allowed on the forums. Anyone willing to step up to the plate here?

Ack! Hotwax will never (I hope) be banned. I will fully acknowledge the technical quality of some of his contributions - his zdoom knowledge is greater than mine. I'm just asking for support in helping him to realize he needs to show restraint when he feels himself being pulled into the "dark side". Thx.
