It would be great to have both E2 and E3 following KDIZD, but it does require dedicated (and talented, unless it's meant to suck) mappers.

Here's what should happen:

Nothing.

That's right, nothing.

Nobody is meant to do anything unless they say they will, then they have their word to stick to. If you want to remake Episode 2, it might be a better idea to DIY, as community projects in this community seem to be hopeless.

I for myself would certainly be interested in helping with E2 and E3, given there're enough people to work on it!

I know that you're willing to work :P I have special priveledges ;)

However, one man hardly constitutes a community, does it?

Don't suppose you could lend your arm to ZDCMP2 before starting anything new, but after this is done? I only ask because I think I'm possibly (but don't know for certain) the only one willing to work on that, and I refuse to work as the only one, as it's not what the project is about :P

Chuck Norris can create a ZDOOM Community Project all by himself.

I would love to help, if I could actually DO anything other than conceptualize. :(

Phobus wrote:It's certainly been discussed before, many times. However, given how long this one has taken, I don't know if many people would be willing to make the commitment for a repeat performance, espcially considering the usual factors:

People can be called away when they least expect it, messing up plans
People have their own projects and lives to think about
We still have other community projects that quite clearly aren't going anywhere without a big jump start.
As I see it though, if anything, KDIZD was a learning experience for everyone involved with the project, and if E2 and E3 were to be redone in the same style as KDIZD, I don't think it would take nearly as long.... The community just has to watch out for, well, everything that happened to them with KDIZD. Besides, once KDIZD is released, I'm sure if it gets a good-enogh reception, it might generate interest across the community for the remaking of E2 and E3....

Yeah right, like I mentioned on the DRD forums; the ultimate power of being a moderator :P

Well, I would really like to see this finished and although I won't make any promises just yet, I'll surely think about it...
I did work on it some time ago after all, so maybe it's time to pick it up again

Right, and like Nightmare already pointed out at some point, plenty of KDiZD resources can be used again (sprites/textures) and reduces the amount of extra work!

Yup.... Besides there may be people from other forums (*hint* *hint*) who might get so inspired by KDIZD that they'd volunteer for E2 and/or E3.... And I'm sure by now you guys have safeguards in place against the project being stolen/uploaded without permission again....

That's great news to hear!

Hopefully the credit scene won't take too long to make.

@Ventris: No he couldn't, because a community means at least more than one man. I could create a massive project, call it a community project and release it, but it doesn't make it a community project.

Also, like I say to everybody else who says "I can't do [x]" - you'll find that if you work at it a bit, you can. If I can learn the basics of mapping at a young age, with the aid of a book, you can learn how to map now with all the documentation there is on the internet today.

@Vader: Of course, don't even consider stopping work on KDiZD for something else :P I personally have been waiting for this to be done for a long time, like a lot of other people, and the last thing I want to do is get everybody interested in another project and get stuff left behind.

@GeeDougg: I'm pretty sure that was the theory for ZDCMP2 as well, and it's been left in pits for as long as I can remember.

@Phobos: Sure, that's why I said I won't make promises yet :wink:

I hope so, although I'm still puzzled how it could happen a 2nd time after all.
