Starcraft TC?

I'm wondering if a Starcraft TC or something like that...would be possible in ZDoom's or GZDoom's engine..

Anything's possible - it really depends on how ambitious your idea is. Are you shooting for an RTS game, or something closer to Starcraft Ghost (just a straight action game in the SC universe)?

While it may be possible, Starcraft TCs have a history of getting foxed. For instance, there was once a very promising Starcraft TC for Half-life.

I attempted making a SC mod for Edge a long time ago. I think i still have the weapon sprites. But i stopped because drawing those monsters was impossible without a 3D-modeling program; which i have no idea how to use.

Still though...I think it would be cool, using the actual sprites though..

This idea is cool, but I think it's going to take a lot of effort and time to make a good Starcraft TC wad. So, most likely, it's not going to happen.

Hey, you think you can spare those weapon sprites? Cause, IIRC I ripped virtually all starcraft weapon sounds and put it on idgames

And I mod for edge too so I may be interested in picking it up 8)

which was stupid and not formatted for .wads at all. Might as well have someone rip it themselves!

@Chrono: If I still have them. I'm not sure. SC weapons aren't that hard tpo redraw, so it shouldnt take too long to actually draw them again (plus, the old sucked anyway - all done in MS paint).

@KOF: Using the actual game sprites wont work. SC uses a isometric terrain, so all the sprites are at the wrong angle. PLus, they are way topo small for Doom. Someone with a lotta 3D-modeling skills will be needed to make the actual models. Or, if you have the SC action figures, I suppose you can use those too (but i've only see the Marine and Hydralisk figures).

Not neccesarily. You could have a moving camera angled down at the ground so the sprites would look atleast somewhat correct - which goes back to what Wildweasel was saying, it really all just depends on what kind of mod King of Flames is shooting for.

Perspective-wise, it will never look convincing with the the software renderer's Y-shearing.

Unfortunately, it'll STILL not look good in GZDoom because... does the term "paper cut-out sprites" ring a bell? ;)

(Seriously Graf, there really needs to be a DECORATE option for sprites to not be anchored...)
