Decorate Flag not working

Post by Hyena »

I created a monster using decorate that's supposed to clone the Spidermastermind but I didn't want it to be immune to explosions so I added "-Boss"

Zdoom won't let me run the wad, saying that "-Boss" isn't a recognized flag. According to the wiki:

"+flagname sets a flag

-flagname clears a flag "

+Boss works, so why doesn't -Boss ?

I don't know if this is going to help very much, but perhaps it's not boss but rather a different command.

You know the Romero Head on level 30? Well, it's a boss and it's not immune to explosions.

Anyways, you are the Jokewad master, are you not?

Due to a bug in the parser there needs to be a space between the '-' and the 'boss'. This has been fixed for the unofficial version but in .96 it's still there.

+BOSS does not set explosion immunities, +NORADIUSDMG does. +BOSS only sets full sight and death sound volume if I recall correctly.

Explosion immunities? The bosses are invincible to rockets? Since when? That's the only way to kill a boss unless you have energy weapons.

Rockets do damage outside explosion damage. (20-160)

@Skunk - Try it with a shotgun or chaingun sometime. It's much more challenging than rocket launchers or plasma weapons ;)

No, just the explosion. The missile damage is done, but the explosion has no effect. In addition, other "weapons" like barrels or Hexen flechettes can go off right next to a cyberdemon and have no effect on him.

So, when you kill a boss with rockets, it is all down to the missile damage of the rocket hitting the enemy and nothing to do with the blasts.

Is that why it takes such a long time to kill a cybie with a rocket launcher.

Yes. That's why it doesn't make sense to try, unless you really have to.

http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=12801.

And, not taking ammo into account, I usually kill them with the SSG if I don't have the BFG. Then plasma, then RL, then berserk fist, then chaingun. :)

V. good map. A bit high on ammo, but still lots of fun.

@dennisj: If you're interested, play other maps by hobomaster. They all rock (Decadence rocks a bit less than the rest).

The SSG is one of the best weapons against the Cyberdemon and especially in cramped spaces even more effective than the BFG.
